{"id":71031,"date":"2017-04-10T16:09:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T20:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=71031"},"modified":"2017-04-10T16:09:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T20:09:53","slug":"trump-said-to-weigh-more-sanctions-against-russia-iran-for-supporting-syria-tyler-durdens-picture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=71031","title":{"rendered":"Trump Said To Weigh More Sanctions Against Russia, Iran For Supporting Syria  Tyler Durden&#8217;s picture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>In addition to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-04-09\/us-ambassador-un-regime-change-syria-now-top-priority-trump\">presenting a strategy <\/a>on Syria that appeared to be the opposite of what Rex Tillerson said earlier, when on Sunday the US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told CNN that regime change is now a key priority for Trump (on Saturday, Tillerson said that Washington&#8217;s first priority is the defeat of Islamic State), Haley also said that Trump is considering implementing new sanctions against Russia and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s conversations that he [Trump] will be having and have started to have, going forward. But I think he will have to look at the situation,\u201d Haley told CNN&#8217;s Jake Tepper when asked whether Trump \u201cwants tougher sanctions on Russia and Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nothing \u201cis off the table at this point,\u201d she added and said that &#8220;the discussions are linked to the situation in Syria.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You saw this terrible tragedy on innocent people, a lot of them children, and the first reaction from Russia wasn\u2019t \u2018how horrible,\u2019 it wasn\u2019t \u2018how could they do this,\u2019 it wasn\u2019t \u2018how did this happen,\u2019 it was: \u2018Assad didn\u2019t do it.\u2019 Why was that the reaction?\u201d Haley said.<\/p>\n<p>The US ambassador to the UN went on to suggest that such a reaction from Moscow prompted \u201cthe investigation on Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said \u201cno evidence whatsoever\u201d has been presented by Washington to prove that the Shayrat airfield had any chemical weapons. Not so according to Haley who said that \u201c<strong>we\u2019ve seen the evidence on Assad, we know exactly what happened<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve seen similar evidence before.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user5\/imageroot\/2017\/03\/27\/Powell%20WMD.jpg\" width=\"370\" height=\"278\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Russian ministry also said that dozens of representatives of the media, local authorities, and emergency services have visited the airfield since the attack, with no alleged \u201cstorage units\u201d or chemical weapon shells being found, and together with Iran called on a mission of professional experts to be sent to the air base.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/2017-04\/10\/c_136194749.htm\">Xinhua reports<\/a>, the Kremlin said in a statement issued on Sunday that Russian and Iranian presidents in a phone conversation stressed the inadmissibility of &#8220;aggressive&#8221; U.S. actions against Syria in violation of international law.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\">\u00a0Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, called for an objective, unbiased investigation into the chemical weapon incident in the Syrian province of Idlib earlier this week, the Kremlin said in the statement.<\/div>\n<p>The two leaders noted the importance of continuing close cooperation in the political and diplomatic settlement of the chronic Syrian civil war, the statement said. In addition, both presidents expressed readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism to ensure stability in the Middle East.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Finally, going back to Rex Tillerson, the US Secretary of State accused Russia of \u201cfailing\u201d to \u201clive up to its commitments under the chemical weapons agreements\u201d in relation to the current situation in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe failure related to the recent strike and the recent terrible chemical weapons attack in large measure is a failure on Russia\u2019s part to achieve its commitment to the international community,\u201d Tillerson said in an interview aired on ABC on Sunday. But, he added, there is no \u201c<em>hard evidence that connects the Russians directly to the planning or execution of this particular chemical weapons attack<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 And speaking of hard evidence, some have mused at the complete disappearance of any recent reports in the Wapo and NYT sourced from &#8220;anonymous officials&#8221; that Trump was cooperating with Russia.
