{"id":69900,"date":"2017-03-28T08:26:02","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T12:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=69900"},"modified":"2017-03-28T08:27:07","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T12:27:07","slug":"trump-to-rescind-obama-climate-orders-with-eo-on-energy-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=69900","title":{"rendered":"Trump to Rescind Obama Climate Orders with EO on Energy Independence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<header class=\"articleheader\">\n<figure class=\"figurearticlefeatured\">\n<div class=\"featured-container\">\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-isc-bbn-full size-isc-bbn-full wp-post-image\" src=\"http:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2017\/03\/Obama-Tump-Pablo-Martinez-Monsivais-640x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>Pablo Martinez Monsivais\/AP<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"byline\"><span class=\"by-author\"><span class=\"by\">by<\/span> MICHELLE MOONS<br \/>\nBreitbart.com<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div id=\"EmailOptin\" class=\"desktop\"><\/div>\n<h2>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 President Donald Trump will roll out a new executive order on Tuesday that eliminates several Obama-era climate change orders\u00a0in favor of policies centered on energy independence.<\/h2>\n<p>A senior administration official said that the coming EO will review some and take other Obama executive orders \u201coff the books immediately to the extent we can,\u201d while also looking forward to providing a \u201cbeginning framework for a strategy on energy.\u201d Under the new order, each executive department and agency in the U.S. government will be responsible for identifying impediments to energy production.<\/p>\n<p>Energy policy under the order will stay in line with the President\u2019s desire for U.S. energy independence and return the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)\u00a0to its core mission. The new order establishes the Trump Administration\u2019s approach to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Obama\u2019s Clean Power Plan, which has been tied up in the courts, will be reviewed and possibly find itself on the chopping block in Trump\u2019s new order. There is not a time frame for review of the Clean Power Plan, but the official predicted that there would be court challenges regarding that aspect of the EO. The new rule from the Clean Air Act will also be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>The Interior Department-imposed coal moratorium will also be rescinded, according to the official.<\/p>\n<p>The official listed Obama Administration Presidential memorandums, including the 2013 Climate Action Plan, among what will be rescinded, \u201c\u2026that obviously will be going away.\u201d A total of about six executive orders and memorandums will be rescinded.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/launch.newsinc.com\/?type=VideoPlayer\/Single&amp;widgetId=1&amp;trackingGroup=69016&amp;playlistId=19132&amp;siteSection=90085_dynamic_mlt&amp;videoId=32182483\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The official stated that there would be policies related to the National Environmental Policy Act. Guidance on climate change <a class=\" x5l\" href=\"http:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/the-press-office\/2016\/08\/02\/fact-sheet-white-house-council-environmental-quality-releases-final\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by the Council on Environmental Quality last August will be rescinded. The senior administration official added that there would be language on the \u201csocial cost of greenhouse gases.\u201d Carbon, methane, and nitrous oxide were specifically mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe previous Administration put out its own estimates, not in a very transparent fashion, in a fashion that we believe violates the longstanding OMB policies.\u201d Those will no longer stand as a result, the official added. Regulations related to methane production at EPA and the Bureau of Land Management will be reviewed to see if they \u201creflect the policy priority that\u2019s outlined at the beginning of the order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Administration is looking at all energy options including nuclear, renewables, clean coal, natural gas, \u201call of it,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n<p>Questions regarding the Administration\u2019s stance on the Paris climate agreement were denied\u00a0as the Administration continues to discuss it.<\/p>\n<p>The coal industry can\u00a0expect to see review of coal policies and potential rescinding of some Obama Administration policies. The official said that President Trump, \u201cis gonna do whatever he can to help those workers.\u201d The official continued, \u201cThere are a lot of different portions that conspire to affect\u201d the coal industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Clean Power Plan was designed to address Climate Change. You look at EPA\u2019s own numbers, they even admitted that in terms of how it\u2019s going to impact global temperatures, it\u2019s not,\u201d said the official. \u201cI think there are plenty of rules on the books already. We will continue to enforce that provide for clean air and clean water.\u201d The official said that\u2019s the core mission of EPA that the President wants them to stick to.<\/p>\n<p>A strong growing economy is among the best ways to protect the environment, the official said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe previous administration devalued workers by their policies,\u201d the official continued. \u201cWe\u2019re saying we can do both, we can protect the environment and provide people with work and keep the economy growing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The official stated that the President is \u201cnot going to pursue climate or environmental policies that put the U.S. economy at risk.
