Betsy McCaughey, a former Donald Trump economic advisor, said that Speaker Ryan should step down if he cannot pass an Obamacare repeal package.<\/h2>\n

Speaking to radio host John Castimatidis on AM 970 in New York, McCaughey said<\/a>, \u201cIf he can\u2019t do his job as Speaker, to hold these Republicans together and get a repeal and replace bill through, somebody else should be Speaker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, said<\/a> that \u201cObamacare is in a death spiral,\u201d and accused Speaker Ryan of pushing for \u201cObamacare-lite.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCaughey is not the first Republican to oppose the Ryan plan to replace Obamacare. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) said that the Ryan plan\u2019s refundable tax credits could amount<\/a> to a new \u201centitlement program.\u201d Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) has said that taxing expensive employer-sponsored health insurance plans creates<\/a> a new \u201cCadillac tax.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Trump economic advisor said that Speaker Ryan is not in line with Trump\u2019s agenda. She said<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cRyan has attached things to his version of the replacement bill that are very unpopular. He\u2019s got to get on board with Donald Trump, because Donald Trump\u2019s program is popular.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCaughey argued that limiting the tax deductibility of health coverage\u00a0raise taxes on half of America.<\/p>\n

She said<\/a>, \u201cThat\u2019s like stabbing in the back the rust belt union workers who made Donald trump\u2019s amazing victory possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
