Twitter CEO Compares US Mood To Arab Spring<\/h1>\n

The CEO of Twitter seemingly believes America is currently experiencing civil unrest comparable to the Arab Spring, a series of revolutionary protests, coups and civil wars in the\u00a0Arab world a few years ago.<\/p>\n

While the social media company appears to be treading water<\/a> after a rough past few months, which includes a number<\/a> of high-level<\/a> staff departures<\/a> and a relatively sinking stock price, Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey sees his platform\u2019s influence in society remaining largely the same, if not growing.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the same patterns\u00a0we\u2019ve seen during the Iranian Green Revolution and the Arab Spring,\u201d Dorsey said Wednesday at a tech conference hosted by Goldman Sachs, according<\/a> to Fortune. \u201cIt was stunning to see how Twitter was being used to have a conversation about the government, with the government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dorsey recounted the first time he got the impression that Twitter was so integral to American society: the protests and riots in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a culture\u00a0in the U.S., we\u2019ve focused on things that didn\u2019t matter as much,\u201d Dorsey said, according to Fortune. \u201cNow, everything is brought into perspective, and Twitter is at center of the most important conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur greatest superpower is we break news faster than anyone on the planet,\u201d Dorsey said.<\/p>\n
