Donald Trump\u2019s war with CNN is becoming more fierce, as the president is again labeling the network \u201cfake news\u201d and is now precluding his officials from making appearances on the cable giant.<\/p>\n
In a Wednesday meeting with black leaders at the White House for African-American History month, Trump commented on the \u201cvery hostile CNN community.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t watch CNN,\u201d Trump said<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t like watching fake news.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut Fox has treated me very nice wherever Fox is, thank you.<\/p>\n Donald Trump in a 2016 appearance on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n The Trump administration is also reportedly banning, at least temporarily, its spokespeople and surrogates from appearing on CNN shows.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re sending surrogates to places where we think it makes sense to promote our agenda,\u201d a White House official told Politico<\/a>, acknowledging CNN is not such a location.<\/p>\n An unnamed CNN reporter indicated the White House is trying to punish the network and harm its ratings.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re trying to cull CNN from the herd,\u201d the reporter told Politico.<\/p>\n \u201cFinally! This kind of thing should have been done long ago!\u201d exclaimed Rush Limbaugh on his national radio broadcast Wednesday.<\/p>\n Radio host Rush Limbaugh<\/p><\/div>\n \u201cThe way Republicans are treated by these fake news outfits, there\u2019s no reason to show up there and get pummeled unless you have the ability to pummel back. So the Trump White House has told CNN, \u2018You\u2019re fake news. We\u2019re not sending our surrogates to your network.’\u201d<\/p>\n Officials in the administration are still answering questions from CNN, but familiar faces including White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and senior counselor Kellyanne Conway have not appeared on the network recently.<\/p>\n At George Washington University on Monday, Spicer denied CNN was being frozen out, as specifically noting he has been answering its questions in daily briefings.<\/p>\n But, as Politico noted, he also explained, \u201cI\u2019m not going to sit around and engage with people who have no desire to actually get something right.\u201d<\/p>\n Like the reporting you see here?
