Apparently\u00a0not even President Donald Trump\u2019s 10-year-old son, Barron, is safe from vicious attacks from leftists suffering from \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n
On inauguration weekend, leftist comedians and writers took to Twitter to call Barron a \u201crapist\u201d and a \u201chomeschool shooter\u201d and to suggest the boy is an arsonist.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d writer Katie Rich tweeted Friday: \u201cBarron will be this country\u2019s first homeschool shooter.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Rich managed to get in a dig on homeschoolers, she apparently is unaware that Barron isn\u2019t even homeschooled. He attends Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York.<\/p>\n
More than 79,000 people signed a petition to have Rich fired, and she has since deleted her tweet. \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d has reportedly suspended Rich indefinitely, according to TMZ.<\/a>\u00a0NBC said it had no comment on her behavior.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet,\u201d Rich tweeted Monday. \u201cI deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I\u2019m so sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n But the attacks on Barron didn\u2019t end there.<\/p>\n Comedy Central writer Stephen Spinola joined in the attacks by tweeting Friday that Barron resembles a \u201crapist\u201d with a \u201csmall PP.\u201d Spinola\u00a0even joked that he hoped Barron would rape his own mother.<\/p>\n \u201cBarron Trump looks like a very handsome date-rapist-to-be,\u201d Spinola wrote in a now-deleted tweet.<\/p>\n Spinola followed his comment with another eye-popping tweet: \u201cI don\u2019t want my Mom to get raped, but if she does I hope it\u2019s by Barron Trump \u2013 small pp would be painless & we\u2019d win lots of money in court.\u201d<\/p>\n On Monday, Spinola tweeted<\/a>: \u201cI believe in Math and the stats are saying I made a bad joke. I truly apologize if it hurt Barron Trump\u2019s feelings. And thats [sic] all I can say.\u201d<\/p>\n Comedian Matt Oswalt also took a crack\u00a0aimed at the 10-year-old Trump, tweeting: \u201cBarron Trump is wandering around the White House right now looking for stuff to burn.\u201d<\/p>\n By contrast, public figures and members of the media vehemently denounced any targeting of\u00a0Sasha and Malia Obama, as the\u00a0girls were considered off limits to jokes and public scrutiny.<\/p>\n For example, former Hill staffer Elizabeth Lauten sparked outrage in 2014 and resigned from her position after she suggested on her private Facebook page that Obama\u2019s teenage daughters should have shown \u201ca little class\u201d when they attended a Thanksgiving turkey pardoning ceremony.<\/p>\n The girls, who had a look of boredom on their faces, attended the event wearing mini skirts and slouchy sweaters.<\/p>\n \u201cDear Sasha and Malia, I get you\u2019re both in those awful teen years, but you\u2019re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class,\u201d Lauten wrote. \u201cRise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at the bar. And certainly don\u2019t make faces during televised, public events.\u201d<\/p>\n President Obama with daughters, Sasha and Malia, at 2014 Thanksgiving turkey pardoning ceremony (Photo: PBS)<\/p><\/div>\n Within hours of her original post \u2013 and amid an onslaught of public condemnation \u2013 Lauten tweeted an apology:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I first posted on Facebook I reacted to an article and I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager,\u201d Lauten wrote. \u201cAfter many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, then-RNC communications director Sean Spicer, who is now President Trump\u2019s White House press secretary, noted the media\u2019s blatant double standard when it comes to coverage of children in the White House.<\/p>\n \u201cChildren, especially the first daughters, are off limits. While the comments were inappropriate and insensitive, the mainstream media\u2019s coverage of this story is appalling,\u201d said Sean Spicer in a series of tweets following the Lauten comments.\u00a0\u201cIn over 20 years in politics I have never seen 1 of the countless inappropriate comments by Democrats ever covered to a faction [sic] of this.\u201d<\/p>\n As for the disparaging\u00a0comments targeting Barron Trump over inauguration weekend, MRCTV\u2019s Liam Clancy observed<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cThese attacks also show the strange projection of the left. To the average person, Barron looks like a normal, cute American child. To the left, he is an autistic school-shooter, arsonist rapist-to-be and the\u00a0 embodiment of white, male privilege.
