The CIA warns him to watch his step and \u201cbe very careful.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<span id=\"more-57366\"><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Donald Trump has delivered a huge boost to Britain by promising a trade deal within weeks of taking office to help make\u00a0Brexit a \u2018great thing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The President-elect spoke in glowing terms of his \u2018love\u2019 for the UK and revealed he was inviting Theresa May to visit him \u2018right after\u2019 he gets into the White House.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he wants a trade agreement between the two countries secured \u2018very quickly\u2019 \u2013 making a mockery of President Obama\u2019s threat that, if the country voted for Brexit, we would be at the \u2018back of the queue\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The comments follow weeks of overtures to the Trump camp by Number Ten, including a visit by Mrs May\u2019s joint chiefs of staff \u2013 and give her a huge boost ahead of her major Brexit speech tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Significantly, he struck a decidedly harsher tone with the EU \u2013 predicting more countries will leave and saying it has been hugely damaged by the migration crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Germany and its Chancellor Angela Merkel were lambasted for making a \u2018catastrophic mistake\u2019 when she let in more than one million migrants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He said: \u2018I think it\u2019s very tough. Good for both sides.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I will be \u00admeeting with [Mrs May]. She\u2019s requesting a meeting and we\u2019ll have a meeting right after I get into the White House and it\u2019ll be, I think we\u2019re gonna get something done very quickly.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trump had nothing but praise for Brexit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He welcomed the fall in the value of the pound for having helped to boost the attractiveness of British products abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of his inauguration on Friday, he also that said he was also looking \u00adforward to visiting Britain, saying his Scottish mother was \u2018proud of the Queen\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He went on: \u2018Any time the Queen was on television, an event, my mother would be watching.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump also joked that his Scottish \u00adancestry meant he liked to \u2018watch my \u00adpennies\u2019, adding: \u2018I mean I deal in big \u00adpennies, that\u2019s the problem.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The remarks will come as both a relief to No 10, and be seen as a vindication of the strategy pursued by Mrs May. She was accused of being ill-prepared for a Trump victory. Further embarrassment followed when Ukip-leader Nigel Farage was invited for an early meeting at Trump Tower.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Mr Trump also confirmed that <strong>he would appoint (((Jared Kushner))), his son-in-law, to broker a Middle East peace deal<\/strong>. [LD] \u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>TRUMP ATTACKS ANGELA MERKEL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Angela Merkel was lambasted over Germany\u2019s open-door migration policy by Donald Trump last night.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The president-elect said that German Chancellor Mrs Merkel had made a \u2018catastrophic mistake\u2019 by allowing 1 million migrants into her country \u2013 and he predicted that the European Union will fall apart.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In comments that will trigger alarm in Berlin and Brussels, Mr Trump said that he fully understood why Britain had voted for Brexit and he thought others could follow suit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He said: \u2018I do believe this, if [EU countries] hadn\u2019t been forced to take in all of the refugees, so many, with all the problems that it entails, I think that you wouldn\u2019t have a Brexit. It probably could have worked out but this was the final straw, this was the final straw that broke the camel\u2019s back.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think people want\u2026 their own identity, so if you ask me\u2026 I believe others will leave.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump was also far less warm about Mrs Merkel than he has been about Theresa May. He said that he had \u2018great respect\u2019 for the German leader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But, in a withering attack, he told The Times and German newspaper Bild: \u2018I think she made one very catastrophic mistake and that was taking all of these illegals, you know, taking all of the people from wherever they come from.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018And nobody even knows where they come from. In fact, the overwhelming majority of these asylum seekers come from Muslim countries where Islam is the official religion. The 10 main countries that supply Europe with its asylum seekers, in order of numerical importance, are: Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Albania, Pakistan, Eritrea, Nigeria, Iran, and Ukraine. (See<a href=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/660\/cpsprodpb\/8CF7\/production\/_88578063_chart_top10_origins_of_asylum_seekers_2015.jpg\"> graph<\/a>)<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2014 \u00a0\u00a7 \u00a0\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the outgoing director of the CIA yesterday warned Mr Trump <strong>to watch his mouth<\/strong> \u2013 especially when talking about Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n<p>Criticising the president-elect\u2019s regular posts on Twitter, John Brennan told Mr Trump to <strong>stop \u2018talking and tweeting\u2019<\/strong> and said being so off the cuff was bad for national security.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on Fox News Sunday \u2013 a show that Mr Trump often watches \u2013 Mr Brennan said: \u2018Spontaneity is not something that protects national security interests and so therefore when he speaks or when he reacts, just make sure he understands that the implications and impact on the United States could be profound.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump said last week that he was not opposed to lifting sanctions if Russia was \u2018really helping us\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that, once he has been sworn in, meeting the Russian president was \u2018absolutely fine with me\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Brennan called for Mr Trump to be \u2018very, very careful\u2019 about cosying up to Russia and said \u2018the world is watching\u2019 what he says.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He said: \u2018I think Mr Trump has to be mindful that he does not have a full appreciation and understanding of what the implications are of going down that road.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>At a press conference last week Mr Trump, whose inauguration is on Friday, had likened his treatment by the intelligence agencies to being in Nazi Germany. But Mr Brennan said the comparison was \u2018outrageous\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He said: \u2018The world is watching now what Trump says and listening very carefully. If he doesn\u2019t have confidence in the intelligence community, what signal does that send to our partners and allies, as well as our adversaries?
