{"id":62379,"date":"2017-01-06T11:24:28","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T15:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=62379"},"modified":"2017-01-06T11:24:28","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T15:24:28","slug":"trump-splits-with-senior-advisor-former-cia-chief-woolsey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=62379","title":{"rendered":"Trump Splits With &#8216;Senior Advisor&#8217; Former CIA Chief Woolsey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Trouble in paradise? <\/em>Following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-01-03\/its-not-just-russians-ex-cia-chief-claims-more-one-country-involved-us-hacks?page=2\">his comments earlier in the week that it was not just the Russians (but China and Iran maybe) that hacked US and that Trump &#8220;may be playing us<\/a>,&#8221;<strong> former CIA Director James Woolsey <\/strong>has parted ways with the president-elect and <strong>will no longer be a Senior Advisor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Woolsey did not appear to be toeing the company-line completely&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Former CIA director James Woolsey: Possibility that more than one country is involved in hacking is there. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cxZqeyNvOI\">https:\/\/t.co\/cxZqeyNvOI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; CNN This Morning with Kasie Hunt (@CNNThisMorning) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNNThisMorning\/status\/816262861483692032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 3, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"twitter-video twitter-video-rendered\" data-tweet-id=\"816262861483692032\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/cia\/312457-ex-cia-head-multiple-nations-may-have-hacked-us\">As we noted previously, The Hill reports<\/a>, <strong>Woolsey, who was a senior advisor to President-elect Donald Trump<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I don\u2019t think people ought to say they know for sure there\u2019s only one. I don\u2019t think they\u2019re likely to be proven correct. It shouldn\u2019t be portrayed as one guilty party,&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s much more complicated than that. This is not an organized operation that is hacking into a target.<strong> It\u2019s more like a bunch of jackals at the carcass of an antelope<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Woolsey suggested China and Iran could be behind cyber breaches in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIs it Russian? Probably some,\u201d he said. &#8220;Is it Chinese and Iranian? Maybe. We may find out more from Mr. Trump coming up today.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>This follows Trump&#8217;s comments on Sunday hinting he would reveal new information about alleged Russian hacking<\/strong> during a New Year\u2019s Eve celebration at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201c[I know] things that other people don\u2019t know,\u201d he said. &#8220;I just want them to be sure because it\u2019s a pretty serious charge. I think it\u2019s unfair if they don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To which Woolsey contentiously also commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;There\u2019s a possibility that he is [playing us] a little bit.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But as is clear, <em><strong>Woolsey&#8217;s belief that the Russians &#8220;were in there&#8221; still goes\u00a0further than what Trump has said about the hacks<\/strong><\/em>&#8230; which may be why Woolsey has announced in a formal statement<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;Effective immediately, Ambassador Woolsey is no longer a Senior Adviser to President-elect Trump or the transition,&#8221; <\/strong><\/em>Woolsey&#8217;s spokesman, Jonathan Franks, wrote in a statement that was first reported by CNN&#8217;s Jeremy Diamond.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;He wishes the President-elect and his Administration great success in their time in office.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Furthermore, The\u00a0Washington Post&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/PhilipRucker\/status\/817153621821452289\">Philip Rucker reports,<\/a> <em><strong>Woolsey resigned after being cut out of intelligence talks with Trump and his national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen.
