<\/a>The comedian known for her lack of self-censoring recently officiated a same-sex wedding and was asked by a photographer if she believed the United States would ever see the first gay or female president. Her response was typical Rivers.<\/p>\n\u201cWe already have it with Obama, so let\u2019s just calm down,\u201d she said. \u201cYou know Michelle (Obama) is a trans.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked to further explain Rivers said, \u201cA transgender. We all know it.\u201d<\/p>\n
A representative for Rivers released the following statement to CNN from the comic about her remarks to the photographer:<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a compliment. She\u2019s so attractive, tall, with a beautiful body, great face, does great makeup. Take a look and go back to La Cage Au Follies (sic). The most gorgeous women are transgender. Stop it already \u2026 and if you want to talk about \u2018politically correct,\u2019 I think this is a \u2018politically incorrect\u2019 attack on me because I\u2019m old, Jewish, a woman and a \u2018hetty\u2019 \u2014 a heteosexual \u2026 and I plan to sue the reporter who, when he turned off his camera, tried to touch me inappropriately on the a** \u2013 luckily he hit my ankle. Rivers is no stranger to controversy. This past April, she refused to apologize aftermaking a comment about Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus.\u00a0<\/a>She made the comment on the \u201cToday\u201d show after being asked what it\u2019s like to live with her daughter.<\/p>\n She said, \u201cThose women in the basement of Cleveland have more space.\u201d<\/p>\n In March 2013 she refused to apologize for a joke she made about the dress \u201cProject Runway\u201d host Heidi Klum wore to the Academy Awards.<\/p>\n \u201cThe last time a German looked this hot was when they were pushing Jews into the ovens,\u201d Rivers said while appearing on the E! channel\u2019s \u201cFashion Police\u201d show.<\/p>\n The Anti-Defamation League slammed Rivers, calling the remark \u201cvulgar and hideous,\u201d but she said it was her way of getting people to talk.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a joke, No. 1. No. 2 it is about the Holocaust,\u201d she told HLN\u2019s \u201cShowbiz Tonight. \u201cThis is the way I remind people about the Holocaust. I do it through humor.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, this latest dust-up coincides with Rivers\u2019 book, \u201cDiary of a Mad Diva,\u201d which was released on July 1. Rivers\u2019 representative told CNN, \u201cThese are all funny jokes. The book is hysterical. The prologue says if anyone takes anything in the book seriously (he or she) is an idiot.
