The Christian Science Monitor\u00a0reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n According to a new [Gallup] poll, Americans have become significantly \u201cless satisfied with the freedom to choose what they want to do with their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n Seventy-nine percent of US residents are satisfied with their level of freedom,\u00a0down from 91 percent<\/strong>\u00a0in 2006,\u00a0<\/strong>according to the Gallup survey, released Tuesday.<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n That 12-point drop pushes the United States from among the highest in the world in terms of perceived freedom to 36th place, outside the top quartile of the 120 countries sampled, trailing Paraguay,\u00a0Rwanda<\/strong>, and the autonomous region of Nagorno-Karabakh [part of\u00a0<\/a>Azerbaijan<\/a>].<\/p>\n Only 10 nations experienced as sharp a drop as the\u00a0US in terms of the satisfaction of citizens with their level of freedom:\u00a0Egypt<\/strong>, Greece, Italy, Venezuela, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Romania,\u00a0Yemen, Pakistan<\/strong>, and Spain.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n (We highlighted countries not especially known for their freedom.)<\/p>\n At the same time, the percentage of Americans who believe their is \u201cwidespread corruption\u201d in the U.S. has skyrocketed. As the Monitor notes:<\/p>\n According to another poll\u00a0also released by Gallup on Tuesday<\/a>, the portion of Americans who believe there to be \u201cwidespread corruption\u201d in the US has jumped from\u00a059 percent<\/strong>in 2006 to\u00a079 percent<\/strong>\u00a0in 2013.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And Americans trust in all 3 branches of government are plunging to historic lows. The Washington Times\u00a0reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n Americans\u2019 confidence in all three branches<\/a>\u00a0of U.S. government is falling, hitting record lows for the\u00a0Supreme Court<\/a>, at 30 percent, and\u00a0Congress<\/a>, at 7 percent, while the presidency is at a six-year low of 29 percent.<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n Since June 2013, confidence has fallen 7 points for the presidency, 4 points for theSupreme Court<\/a>\u00a0and 3 points for\u00a0Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n A new poll finds that Obama is now more unpopular than Bush \u2026 and the least popular president since WWII.\u00a0 The Washington Times\u00a0notes<\/a>:<\/p>\n A new\u00a0Quinnipiac University<\/a>\u00a0survey found that voters rate\u00a0Mr. Obama<\/a>as the country\u2019s worst president since World War II.<\/p>\n Quinnipiac<\/a>\u00a0found 45 percent of voters say the country would have been better off if Mr. Romney had been elected, while just 38 percent say\u00a0Mr. Obama<\/a>\u00a0remains a better choice. Even Democrats aren\u2019t so sure \u2014 just 74 percent of them told the pollsters\u00a0Mr. Obama<\/a>was clearly the better pick in the last election.<\/p>\n ***<\/p>\n A Zogby Analytics Poll released Wednesday also found\u00a0Mr. Obama<\/a>\u00a0slipping \u2014 in that survey, to 44 percent approval, while his disapproval jumped 4 percentage points from last month to reach 54 percent.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n A new NBC\/Wall Street Journal poll found that only 16% of Americans have any real confidence in the government, only 19% have confidence in the media, and only 13% have confidence in large corporations:<\/p>\n\n
