He must have missed a child-support payment.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the point of being black president if you don\u2019t get the chance to free a bunch of violent drug dealers from prison?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/news\/politics-government\/white-house\/article121824148.html\">McClatchy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>President Barack Obama pardoned 78 people and shortened the sentences of 153 others convicted of federal crimes on Monday \u2013 the most individual clemencies ever granted in a single day by any president.<\/strong> As he nears the end of his second term, Obama has issued <strong>more commutations than the previous 11 presidents combined<\/strong>, according to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 231 individuals granted clemency today have all demonstrated that they are ready to make use \u2014 or have already made use \u2014 of a second chance,\u201d White House counsel Neil Eggleston <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/blog\/2016\/12\/19\/president-obama-grants-153-commutations-and-78-pardons-individuals-deserving-second\" target=\"_blank\">wrote in a blog post<\/a>. \u201cWhile each clemency recipient\u2019s story is unique, the common thread of rehabilitation underlies all of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of the people granted clemency on Monday, 54 were serving life sentences. In the last months of Obama\u2019s presidency, administration officials have moved quickly to rule on all the pending clemency applications. The president will continue to review clemency applications, and is expected to grant more pardons and commutations before he leaves office, Eggleston said.<\/p>\n<p>Obama has used his constitutional clemency power to reduce the <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/blog\/2016\/12\/19\/president-obama-grants-153-commutations-and-78-pardons-individuals-deserving-second\" target=\"_blank\">sentences of 1,176 people<\/a> since he has been in office, according to the White House. About a third of them, 395 people, were serving life sentences. The previous single-day record of 151 commutations was set by Franklin Roosevelt in 1935.
