Mass protests are being planned to block major thoroughfares and \u201cshut down\u201d Washington, D.C., New York and other cities on Inauguration Day, but a coalition of far-left organizations isn\u2019t waiting for Jan. 20 to roll out the shock troops.<\/p>\n

They have another day circled on their calendar \u2014 Dec. 19. That\u2019s the day the Electoral College electors meet in the 50 state Capitols.<\/p>\n

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee sent out a news release Friday saying it is working with a host of progressive groups including Democracy Spring, Americans Take Action and the organizations pushing the Change.org petition to get the Electoral College to turn on President-Elect Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cThousands of Americans will be protesting nationwide on Dec. 19 while the Electoral College goes to cast their votes, urging electors to respect the will of he people and vote for the winner of the national popular vote,\u201d PCCC says.<\/p>\n

The release further states that \u201c70 Electoral College members have signed the letter calling for an intelligence briefing into Russian hacking before they vote.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the granddaddy of all protests is being planned for Jan. 20 \u2014 Inauguration Day.<\/p>\n

U.S. News reports<\/a> that two major protests are being planned, one peaceful along the parade route and another being organized by \u201cradical\u201d elements who clearly wish to \u201cshut down the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOne major faction plans an orderly but large demonstration along the parade route. But a more radical effort operating under the tagline \u2018no peaceful transition\u2019 seeks to block major roads into the nation\u2019s capital and prevent foot traffic from reaching security checkpoints along the route,\u201d U.S. News reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we\u2019re going for what I\u2019d generally term a clusterf\u2013k,\u201d says Legba Carrefour, a local anarchist handling press for the more radical protest-organizing network DisruptJ20.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are planning to shut down the inauguration, that\u2019s the short of it,\u201d he says. \u201cWe\u2019re pretty literal about that, we are trying to create citywide paralysis on a level that I don\u2019t think has been seen in D.C. before. We\u2019re trying to shut down pretty much every ingress into the city as well as every checkpoint around the actual inauguration parade route.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filmmaker Michael Moore has clearly come out on the side of the more radical protesters. He penned a letter to the Hollywood Reporter saying he will be in D.C. on Jan. 20 to lead national protests against the inauguration of Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect the Republicans to call a Saturday session on Jan. 21st and start enacting an assembly line of legislation, passing bills into law by voice vote, and rushing them up Pennsylvania Ave. for Trump\u2019s signature. This impending disaster requires everyone to get involved now \u2014 all hands on deck! This is not a drill!,\u201d Moore wrote.<\/p>\n

Yet, Moore seems to think Trump might not show up for his own inauguration:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf by some awful happenstance Trump shows up to be sworn in on January 20th, I will be there helping lead the national protest and non-violently disrupting the Inauguration of a man no one other than the electoral college elected \u2014 and I\u2019ll also be doing my own thing as a private citizen (activities I won\u2019t disclose now).\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On Wednesday, Moore tweeted a link to the radical protest website Disrupt the Inauguration <\/a>or DisruptJ20, which seeks to shut down the inauguration.<\/p>\n
