A federal judge ruled Monday that two Colorado electors will not be allowed to vote differently than the state’s popular vote in the December 19 Electoral College tallying.<\/p>\n
Judge Wiley Daniel said that if he granted the motion it “would undermine” the electoral process since Colorado state law requires its nine electors to vote for the presidential\/vice presidential team that won the Colorado popular vote, denverchannel.com reports.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Daniel said the plaintiffs, Robert Nemanich and Polly Baca, should instead seek to change the law through the legislative process if they don’t agree with how Colorado runs the process. He called the lawsuit a “political stunt.”<\/p>\n Nemanich and Baca are part of an effort to have electors who are not satisfied with Republican Donald Trump’s election vote for Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich.<\/p>\n Colorado’s electoral votes went to Democrat Hillary Clinton, but Democrats and Republicans are part of the last-ditch effort to deny Trump the presidency.<\/p>\n Most states do not allow electors to vote against the popular vote of their state, a requirement the group argues is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n
