There\u2019s been a lot of talk about fake news over the past few weeks and whether it had any impact on the election. Mark Zuckerberg<\/strong> and Sheryl Sandberg<\/strong> have both<\/a>\u00a0dismissed the idea<\/a> that fake news on Facebook swayed the election. The Comet Ping Pong gunman this week fueled discussion<\/a> about real-world consequences of fake news.<\/p>\n Well, now Hillary Clinton<\/strong> has weighed in, bringing up the issue during her speech at Harry Reid<\/strong>‘s portrait unveiling.<\/p>\n She said, \u201cIt\u2019s now clear that so-called fake news can have real world consequences. This isn\u2019t about politics or partisanship. Lives are at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n Clinton did not directly address the election, but railed against the \u201cepidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda that flooded social media over the past year\u201d and called for action to be taken:<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a danger that must be addressed, and addressed quickly. Bipartisan legislation is making its way through Congress to boost the government\u2019s response to foreign propaganda, and Silicon Valley is starting to grapple with the challenge and threat of fake news.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Watch above, via C-SPAN 3.<\/p>\n
