{"id":52321,"date":"2016-10-14T18:37:27","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T22:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=52321"},"modified":"2016-10-14T18:37:55","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T22:37:55","slug":"wikileaks-hillary-clinton-enraged-about-bill-canceling-paid-wall-street-speech-in-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=52321","title":{"rendered":"WIKILEAKS: Hillary Clinton Enraged About Bill Canceling Paid Wall Street Speech in 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->By Andrew Stiles<br \/>\nHEATSTEET<\/p>\n<p>Hillary Clinton was so enraged that Bill Clinton was forced to cancel a paid speech at Wall Street bank Morgan Stanley in 2015 that she \u201cneeded a cool down period,\u201d according to email published by WikiLeaks on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"add-banner-after\">The email chain, on March 11, 2015, before Hillary formally launched her campaign, includes top aides to both Hillary Clinton and former President Clinton, and reveals that Hillary\u2019s future campaign aides were concerned about the optics and timing of Bill giving a speech to a Wall Street bank.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mc_embed_signup\">\n<form id=\"mc-embedded-subscribe-form\" class=\"validate\" action=\"http:\/\/heatst.us13.list-manage.com\/subscribe\/post?u=3d7fe4fbf508a11b245f9cff7&amp;id=6b2497926d\" method=\"post\" name=\"mc-embedded-subscribe-form\" novalidate=\"\" target=\"_blank\">\n<div id=\"mc_embed_signup_scroll\"><\/div>\n<\/form>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cMorgan Stanley is coming down,\u201d wrote Robby Mook, Hillary\u2019s current campaign manager, in an email to top Clinton aides, adding that John Podesta, Hillary\u2019s current campaign chairman, had made the call.<\/p>\n<p>Huma Abedin explained that Hillary would not be happy about it. \u201cHRC very strongly did not want him to cancel that particular speech,\u201d Abedin wrote. \u201cI will have to tell her that [Bill] chose to cancel it, not that we asked.<\/p>\n<div class=\"no-caption-wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-55739 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/heatst.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ws-1.jpg\" alt=\"ws-1\" width=\"902\" height=\"604\" data-expand=\"http:\/\/heatst.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ws-1.jpg?w=619&amp;quality=80&amp;strip=info\" \/><i class=\"fa fa-pinterest three\"><\/i><\/div>\n<p>Mook explained that, because Hillary was planning to launch her campaign on April 12th or 13th (she launched on the 12th), the optics of Bill giving a paid speech to a Wall Street bank could make for a \u201cbad rollout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After consulting Hillary, Huma relayed that \u201cHRC is reiterating her original position. She does not want him to cancel.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"no-caption-wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55740\" src=\"http:\/\/heatst.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ws-2.jpg?quality=80&amp;strip=info\" alt=\"ws-2\" width=\"619\" height=\"328\" data-expand=\"http:\/\/heatst.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ws-2.jpg?w=619&amp;quality=80&amp;strip=info\" \/><i class=\"fa fa-pinterest three\"><\/i><\/div>\n<p>Mook wrote back with a long explanation for why allowing Bill to go forward with the speech would be a \u201cvery consequential unforced error and could plague us for months,\u201d mostly because voters in Iowa, the first primary state, have very low opinions about Wall Street.<\/p>\n<p>Mook, however, did recognize \u201cthe sacrifice and disappointment that canceling will create,\u201d presumably because of the Clintons\u2019 insatiable quest for money. Both Bill and Hillary were pulling in about $200,000 to $300,000 per speech at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Huma apparently was able to persuade Hillary that canceling was the right think to do.
