{"id":50637,"date":"2016-09-29T13:42:25","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T17:42:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=50637"},"modified":"2016-09-29T13:42:25","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T17:42:25","slug":"mainstream-media-still-silent-as-dakota-access-pipeline-protests-spread-construction-blocked-in-iowa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=50637","title":{"rendered":"Mainstream Media Still Silent As Dakota Access Pipeline Protests Spread, Construction Blocked In Iowa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theantimedia.org\/media-silent-dakota-access-pipeline-iowa\/\"><em>Submitted by Nick Bernabe via TheAntiMedia.org,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/theantimedia.org\/media-blackout-abc-nbc-dakota-access\/\" target=\"_blank\">media blackout<\/a> of opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline continues as <strong>widening protests, which have now blocked pipeline construction in Iowa,<\/strong> go unreported by the national corporate media.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mississippistand.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mississippi Stand<\/a>\u201d water protector encampment in Sandusky, Iowa, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicornriot.ninja\/?p=9451\" target=\"_blank\">successfully blocked<\/a> Dakota Access Pipeline construction as of Saturday, September 24th. <strong>The protests are taking place where the pipeline is planned to cross the Mississippi River.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Water protectors attached themselves to construction equipment in acts of civil disobedience until they were eventually arrested \u2014 but<strong> police failed to corral them before they halted the pipeline\u2019s construction.<\/strong> Law enforcement arrested a total of 12 people on Saturday at the Mississippi Stand site, according to independent media outlet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicornriot.ninja\/?p=9451\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Unicorn Riot<\/em><\/a>. At least 44 people <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2016\/08\/31\/dakota-access-pipeline-protest-arrests\/89607366\/\" target=\"_blank\">have been arrested<\/a> at the Iowa protest site in previous weeks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DES MOINES REGISTER - Embed Player\" src=\"http:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/videos\/embed\/89682158\/?fullsite=true\" width=\"540\" height=\"304\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>At issue is the $3.8 billion Dakota Access oil pipeline that Native American tribes, led by the Lakota Sioux, say will endanger tribal and public fresh water across an area that spans several states.<\/strong> In a statement to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicornriot.ninja\/?p=9451\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Unicorn Riot<\/em><\/a>, the Mississippi Stand confirmed their opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\"><\/div>\n<p><em>\u201cMississippi Stand comes together in solidarity with Standing Rock, because we acknowledge the importance of the protection and preservation of Native Land. It\u2019s crucial that all water protectors rise up together to fight for our Mother Earth, and all who inhabit this beautiful planet. This begins with defending our most valuable life source, water.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"http:\/\/livestream.com\/unicornriot\/events\/6419548\" target=\"_blank\">protests continue<\/a> near the Standing Rock camp at the Dakota Access Pipeline construction site in North Dakota <strong>despite the Justice Department\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/theantimedia.org\/justice-department-dakota-access-pipeline\/\" target=\"_blank\">order to stop construction<\/a> on Army Corps of Engineer\u00a0land.<\/strong> Twenty-one water protectors were arrested on Wednesday alone as militarized police with armored vehicles and shotguns descended upon peaceful protesters.
