She then joked: &#8220;I remember it very well. Unfortunately, so does the Secret Service, which is why I haven&#8217;t driven since then.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clinton&#8217;s lack of experience behind the wheel isn&#8217;t all that unusual for a person who has been in public life as long as she has. Before stepping down as U.S. secretary of state almost a year ago, Clinton served as first lady, then senator and then secretary of state, with no time away from public office.<\/p>\n<div id=\"f0yzgAwOXvm9Wp\" class=\"moat-trackable pb-f-theme-normal full pb-feature pb-layout-item pb-f-page-newsletter-inLine\" data-chain-name=\"no-name\" data-feature-name=\"no-name\" data-feature-id=\"page\/newsletter-inLine\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-inline-unit codedNewsletter \">\n<div class=\"signup-module row\">\n<div class=\"title-container col-xs-8\">\n<p class=\"headline\">Local Politics Alerts<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagline\">Breaking news about local government in D.C., Md., Va.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sign-up col-xs-4\"><button class=\"sign-up-btn\">Sign up<\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;I have to confess: One of the regrets I have about public life is that I can&#8217;t drive anymore,&#8221; Clinton said, before joking:\u00a0&#8220;My husband thinks that&#8217;s a blessing, but he&#8217;s the one who should talk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former presidents and first ladies have Secret Service protection for life after leaving office, which means they have very limited opportunities to drive.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Clinton said in 2012 that <a href=\"http:\/\/pagesix.com\/2012\/05\/03\/bill-clinton-misses-freedom-to-drive-a-car\/\">driving was the one thing he missed most about everyday life<\/a>. He said he always drives the golf cart during golf outings to get his fill.<\/p>\n<p>George W.
