This is a poem penned by a Nevada rancher and cowboy poet in the wake of the Nevada standoff between Cliven Bundy and his family and friends and the Federal Bureau of Land management (BLM).<\/p>\n
This poem is not about a cowman who refused to give up rights Americans, listen up and fear How the bureau of mis-management The roots from which this stems Shall we all just sit and watch Do you want a wolf Bo Peep And the puppet bureaucrats And sheriff, what the Hell’s with you ? For, if they get away with this Civil disobedience And how did the Feds respond? \nOr how the Feds have treated him and started all these fights
\nAnd it’s not about what side I’m on for a tortoise or some fees
\nThis is all about our government out doing as it please<\/strong><\/p>\nA Call to All<\/h2>\n
\nAbout what’s happening out here
\nHow our bureaucracies do anything to win
\nThey stomp all over rights
\nStarting State and local fights
\nStealing land and property from citizens<\/p>\n
\nDoesn’t even have to get consent
\nTo spend six million to put one lone rancher down
\nCuz, a tortoise might get stepped on
\nAnd some fees they disagree on ,,
\nMake it worth Gestapo force with guns and hounds?<\/p>\n
\nCome from their rules, all wrote by them
\nAnd they enforce their rules, but if you disagree
\nGuess who judges the whole mess?
\nYou don’t even have to guess
\nThe monster’s growing folks, it’s hungry and wants feed<\/p>\n
\nWhile they carve another notch
\nFrom the rights that they have whittled on for years
\nOne more gouge might cut plumb through
\nAllowing government to rule
\nAnd that would be the summit of our fears<\/p>\n
\nThat will kill and eat your sheep
\nOr a guard dog to protect the sheep you own?
\nThe offensive they’ve unfurled
\nIs reminiscent of third world
\nWho have ever thought it’d happen here at home?<\/p>\n
\nWho are supposed to have our backs
\nThe gorilla tactics they employ, folks, just ain’t right
\nThey are poking hornet nests
\nCausing anger and unrest
\nThey’ve no idea the deep resolve of folks they’ll fight<\/p>\n
\nDo what you were sworn to do
\nYour siding with the Feds on this seems odd
\nWhich politician got to you?
\nYou protect and serve just who?
\nWe need sheriffs not afraid to do their job<\/p>\n
\nOur freedom’s thrown to the abyss
\nAnd we will all feel Big Bad Brother’s iron hand
\nWe best get out of our chairs
\nProve to them that we do care
\nFor the rights and freedoms that have built this land<\/p>\n
\nMakes sense, when there’s no other sense ‘
\nIt’s a shame but sometimes people must stand strong
\nIt worked for Civil rights and Vietnam
\nAnd for the rights that women won
\nAnd,in each case, it proved the government was wrong<\/p>\n
\nWell, they went so far beyond
\nAnd murdered citizens for how they think and feel
\nHow many wars, of late, have we been in
\nBecause they lied and fed their spin?
\nAnd we lost soldiers, reputation and billions in the deal<\/p>\n
\nIt’s best you listen close and fear
\nThe systems rigged and now they’re wanting more
\nThey’ve shown willingness to kill
\nFor things against the peoples will
\nAs Americans are we to take much more?<\/p>\n
\nSeems to escalate each year
\nFriends,they are nothing more than ‘enemies of state’
\nWhy would they come with thugs and snipers
\nTaze and threaten folks like vipers
\nIf what they’re doing is at all legitimate?<\/p>\n
\nFollow the trail way up the top
\nThey need arrested where they haven’t spread their claws
\nWe go get individual crooks
\nThat are juggling the books
\nWhy does a government job protect them from the law<\/p>\n
\nFor participating in the crime
\nJust as bank robbers, armed and acting tough
\nI can’t conceive what kind of minds
\nWould condone these kinds of crimes
\nAgainst neighbors just saying, “that’s enough”<\/p>\n
\nAlibi- ing shameful acts
\nLike the guards did from the concentration camps
\nClaim “We just do what we are told”
\nThat willingness make tyrants bold
\nAll agencies and powers need revamped<\/p>\n
\nOur government has gone amiss
\nJust when last did the Senate do its job?
\nHave they earned thIs kind of clout
\nOr even your benefit of doubt?
\nWe’d be better off if we dealt with the mob<\/p>\n
\nWill you allow that be our fate?
\nWhile we stand up for the rights of me and you
\nThe facts are there, folks, you discern
\nStand and show that you ‘re concerned
\nFor the nightmare of Big Brother’s coming true!<\/p>\n
\nThat just has a pleasant sound
\nFolks it’s “federal” when they when they want to lock the gate
\nAnd our taxes pay for all their crimes
\nAs they grow bolder all the time
\nDon’t let a police state with a ruler be our fate?<\/p>\n
