In addition, Saucier will pay a $100 fine, participate in 100 hours of community service, and he will no longer be able to own firearms.<\/p>\n<p>Although Saucier plead guilty in May to \u201cretaining national defense information without permission,\u201d according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/under-the-radar\/2016\/08\/sailor-seeks-leniency-in-submarine-photos-case-by-citing-clinton-226995\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external nofollow\">Politico<\/a>, his attorney attempted a unique defense strategy to lighten his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Saucier\u2019s crime pertained to section 793(e) of the U.S. penal code, which is part of the Espionage Act. While under investigation by the FBI, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was being scrutinized for a potential violation of nearly the same thing\u2013section 793(f) of the Espionage Act.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mid_article_desktop b64_ad\"><\/div>\n<p>Saucier\u2019s attorney, Derrick Hogan, <a href=\"http:\/\/ijr.com\/2016\/08\/674895-navy-sailors-excuse-for-taking-classified-photos-should-seem-awful-familiar-to-hillary-clinton\/\">argued<\/a> that the precedent set by the outcome of Hillary Clinton\u2019s case should be applied to his client:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDemocratic Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hilary [sic] Clinton\u2026has come under scrutiny for engaging in acts similar to Mr. Saucier\u2026<\/p>\n<p>In our case, Mr. Saucier possessed six (6) photographs classified as \u2018confidential\/restricted,\u2019 far less than Clinton\u2019s 110 emails.
