While some may be cheering the expiration of the Patriot Act \u2013 however temporary it may be \u2013 former presidential candidate Ron Paul notes: before Americans applaud a minor step toward transparency, they should recognize the corrosive nature of the CIA, a secret government operating far above the law.<\/h2>\n

“[The CIA] is sort of\u00a0the President\u2019s own Praetorian Guard,” Daniel McAdams, from\u00a0the Institute of\u00a0Peace and Prosperity, said on\u00a0the Ron Paul Liberty Report. \u00a0“We know\u2026that he sent assassination squads, he sent people to\u00a0monitor Martin Luther King, and all sorts of\u00a0things like\u00a0this.”<\/p>\n

“This is like\u00a0his own personal army which is accountable to\u00a0no one,” McAdams adds.<\/p>\n
