Pope Francis has slammed \u201cinfluential countries\u201d for their \u201cideological colonization\u201d of societies worldwide, particularly through teaching children they are free to choose their gender, something that the Catholic Church sees as a sin against nature and god.<\/div>\n

Reflecting on the idea of gender identity freedom that is being promulgated across the globe, the 79-year-old pontiff termed such approach an \u201cannihilation of man as an image of God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Francis\u2019 remarks that were voiced<\/a>\u00a0during a closed-door session with the bishops last week during his trip to Poland. The Vatican released the transcript of the remarks on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He specifically focused on the criticism of educational systems that tolerate and advocate gender choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, in schools they are teaching this to children \u2013 to children! \u2013 that everyone can choose their gender,\u201d<\/em> Francis said, calling such policies \u201cideological colonizing\u201d<\/em> supported and funded by \u201cvery influential countries.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Without identifying which countries exactly he believes are involved, the Pope blamed textbooks supplied by \u201cpersons and institutions who donate money.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Calling such approach \u201cterrible,\u201d<\/em> Francis also said that he had discussed the issue with his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI, who called it a sin against God.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpeaking with Pope Benedict, who is well, and has a clear mind, he was telling me: ‘Holiness, this is the epoch of sin against God the Creator.\u2019 He’s intelligent! God created man and woman, God created the world this way, this way, this way, and we are doing the opposite,\u201d<\/em> Francis told the Polish bishops. \u201cWe must think about what Pope Benedict said \u2013 \u2018It’s the epoch of sin against God the Creator.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
