Wednesday on his radio show, on the heel of Donald Trump\u2019s victory in the Indiana Republican presidential primary and his opponent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) suspending his campaign, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh said he anticipated Trump to beat his next likely Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a \u201clandslide.\u201d<\/p>\n

Partial transcript as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n

My instinctive feeling right now is that Trump is gonna win, beat Hillary badly, that it could be landslide proportions.<\/p>\n

I still don\u2019t think people understand why Trump won this.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they understand at all the reason people support Trump.\u00a0 And the deeper people are entrenched in politics, and the more they are accustomed to the templates and the handbooks and the theories and the playbooks, the less they\u2019re gonna understand it.\u00a0 The more they try to plug Donald Trump and his campaign and his personality into the professional politician candidate playbook that they use, the farther and farther from the truth they are going to get.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve tried to help. During the course of this entire campaign, I\u2019ve gone to great lengths to try to explain to people what it is about Trump, why he has his supporters, why they support him, and what you have to do to separate them from Trump.\u00a0 Basically, you can\u2019t.\u00a0 That\u2019s the bottom line.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing any professional politician can do.\u00a0 They\u2019ve done everything that they knew how to beat a candidate. They threw everything they had at Trump.\u00a0 I mean, the negative ads that they ran against him, these #NeverTrump guys and their PACs in all these states?<\/p>\n

In indiana alone the amount of money spent on negative ads against Trump? And it didn\u2019t work.\u00a0 And in their world, negative ads always work.\u00a0 So they\u2019re out there scratching their heads today.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got #NeverTrump people saying, \u201cI said I was never gonna vote for Trump, and I\u2019m never gonna vote for Trump \u2014 and I mean it.\u201d\u00a0 You\u2019ve got some people thinking about looking for third-party candidate.\u00a0 Others, it\u2019s a matter of honor, a matter of principle, to never vote for Trump.\u00a0 But they\u2019re caught between that and Hillary Clinton becoming president.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re back to, \u201cWell, let\u2019s just let Hillary win so people will find out how bad it is.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m tired of that.\u00a0 We already know how bad it is. We know how bad it is with Hillary. We know how bad it is with Bill Clinton. We know how bad it is with Barack Hussein O. We know how bad it is with the American left.\u00a0 We don\u2019t need any more destruction. We don\u2019t need anymore lessons. And, by the way, leaving it to the American people to figure out hasn\u2019t worked out well, either, has it?<\/p>\n

Somebody\u2019s gonna have to tell \u2019em how bad it is.\u00a0 I mean, they instinctively know things are not great. But look at the Millennials.\u00a0 My point is, the millennials think the country\u2019s seen its best days.\u00a0 They don\u2019t blame the Democrats for it \u2019cause nobody tells them. Nobody explains to them that the reason they are in great suffering and have (in their own minds) no future is because of Democrat Party left-wing policies. But nobody tells \u2019em that.\u00a0 So they are left to assume that America is flawed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica was flawed from its founding, and all these flaws \u2014 and all this racism, bigotry, self-hatred, all that \u2014 is coming to the fore now, and America has caught up with itself.\u201d This is, sadly, what some of these people think.\u00a0 So a guy comes along and tells \u2019em he\u2019ll make America great, identifies problems, and then proposes solutions; doesn\u2019t hold back. It\u2019s not hard to figure any of this out.\u00a0 Against a message like Trump\u2019s, if your counter message is, \u201cI\u2019m the most conservative guy running,\u201d that\u2019s not going to work.<\/p>\n

Even if you are, and even if you\u2019re good at it, it\u2019s not gonna make a dent.\u00a0 Because none of this is about ideology right now.\u00a0 That\u2019s why everybody\u2019s talking about populism having over taken conservatism.\u00a0 That hasn\u2019t happened, but at this moment of time it looks like it. In this particular set of circumstances it looks like it.\u00a0 Any number of things that 17 people tried \u2014 and Hillary Clinton is next up, and we shall see.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
