Given President Obama\u2019s penchant for legislating through executive orders (otherwise known as creating a dictatorship), many Americans are worried that rather than relinquish all of the powers Obama has taken for himself, he will simply suspend the 2016 election, and remain \u2018president\u2019 indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Well, worry no more\u2026He has already been given the power to do just that by both Republicans and Democrats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On October 17, 2006, President Bush signed into law, the John Warner Defense Authorization Act<\/a>, which affords the president (any president) the ability to declare a \u2018public emergency\u2019 at his own discretion, and place federal troops anywhere throughout the United States<\/strong>. Under this law, the president also now has the authority to federalize National Guard troops without the consent of state governors, in order to restore \u2018public order.\u2019 The President can now deploy federal troops to U.S. cities, at will, which eliminates the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act.<\/p>\n

Then, in December 2011, while vacationing in Hawaii, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)<\/a> into law, which allows the \u201cindefinite detention\u201d of U.S. citizens without charge, by the U.S. military<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Though ignored by the mainstream press, the idea of suspending federal elections has actually been proposed by a prominent Democrat\u2026<\/p>\n

In a September 2011 speech, Gov. Beverly Perdue (D-NC)<\/strong>, spoke very seriously about suspending the 2012 election.<\/p>\n

Western Journalism reported<\/a> Perdue\u2019s rather shocking and under-reported words:<\/p>\n

I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make<\/strong>, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, given the current lawlessness we are seeing at the hands of left wing-funded groups such as Black Lives Matter; the rioting already seen in Baltimore, Ferguson and Chicago and the ongoing ambush and murder of our police officers, it is not hard to see how Obama would be able to point to widespread \u2018civil unrest\u2019 and declare a \u2018public emergency,\u2019 and then suspend federal elections.<\/p>\n
