Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n The\u00a0Clinton Foundation\u2019s finances are so messy that the nation\u2019s most influential charity watchdog put it on its \u201cwatch list\u201d of problematic nonprofits last month.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Clinton family\u2019s mega-charity took in more than $140 million in grants and pledges in 2013 but spent just $9 million on direct aid.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The group spent the bulk of its windfall on administration, travel, and salaries and bonuses, with the fattest payouts going to family friends.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cIt seems like the Clinton Foundation operates as a slush fund for the Clintons,\u201d said Bill Allison, a senior fellow at the Sunlight Foundation, a government watchdog group where progressive Democrat and Fordham Law professor Zephyr Teachout was once an organizing director.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u2013 From last year\u2019s post:\u00a0Senior Fellow at Sunlight Foundation Calls the Clinton Foundation \u201cA Slush Fund\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Thanks to Charles Ortel, it\u2019s time to prepare ourselves for some more Clinton Foundation revelations.<\/p>\n The Washington Free Beacon<\/em><\/a> reports:<\/p>\n The Wall Street analyst who uncovered financial discrepancies at General Electric before its stock crashed in 2008 claims the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation has a number of irregularities in its tax records and could be violating state laws.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Charles Ortel, a longtime financial adviser, said he has spent the past 15 months digging into the Clinton Foundation\u2019s public records, federal and state-level tax filings, and donor disclosures.<\/strong> That includes records from the foundation\u2019s many offshoots\u2014including the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Clinton Global Initiative\u2014as well as its foreign subsidiaries.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This week, Ortel is starting to release his findings in the first of a series of up to 40 planned reports on his\u00a0website<\/a>. His allegation: \u201cthis is a charity fraud.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The\u00a0Sunday Times\u00a0of London described Ortel as \u201cone of the finest analysts of financial statements on the planet\u201d in a 2009 story detailing the troubles at AIG.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWhere you or I see pages of numbers, [Ortel] sees a narrative,\u201d wrote\u00a0Sunday Times\u00a0reporter Tim Rayment. \u201cSometimes the theme is a company\u2019s potential for growth. Sometimes it is the prospect of self-destruction. And at times the story does not make sense, because the figures are hiding a fraud.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ortel turned his attention to the Clinton Foundation in February 2015. To learn more about the charity, he decided to take it apart and see how it worked.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI decided, as I did with GE, let\u2019s pick one that\u2019s complicated,\u201d said Ortel. \u201cThe Clinton Foundation is complicated, but it\u2019s really very small compared to GE.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n When Ortel tried to match up the Clinton Foundation\u2019s tax filings with the disclosure reports from its major donors, he said he started to find problems.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI decided it would be fun to cross-check what their donors thought they did when they donated to the Clinton Foundation, and that\u2019s when I got really irritated,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are massive discrepancies between what some of the major donors say they gave to the Clinton Foundation to do, and what the Clinton Foundation said what they got from the donors and what they did with it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last year, the Clinton Foundation was forced to issue corrected tax filings for several years to correct donation errors. But Ortel said many of the discrepancies remain.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m against charity fraud. I think people in both parties are against charity fraud, and this is a charity fraud,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n A spokesperson for the Clinton Foundation did not comment on the claims.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n I covered the Clinton Foundation and all its shadiness repeatedly last year.
