Donald Trump claims a former\u00a0Breitbart reporter made unwanted physical contact with him before his campaign manager\u00a0allegedly grabbed the reporter\u2019s arm\u00a0\u2013 and a member of Trump\u2019s\u00a0Secret Service detail is backing up the\u00a0GOP front-runner\u2019s story.<\/p>\n
After claiming\u00a0former Breitbart\u00a0reporter Michelle Fields touched him, Trump asked Tuesday, \u201cCan I press charges?\u201d<\/p>\n
As WND reported<\/a>, Trump\u2019s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, 41, is\u00a0accused of accosting Fields at the\u00a0March 8 rally after she purportedly touched Trump\u2019s arm.\u00a0Lewandowski\u00a0was formally charged with misdemeanor battery Tuesday. Fields filed a police report three days after the incident in Jupiter, Florida, and claimed the encounter left bruises on her arm.<\/p>\n Lewandowski turned himself in to Jupiter, Florida, police early in the morning.<\/p>\n According to a report in London\u2019s Daily Mail, a member of Trump\u2019s Secret Service detail, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Fields touched Trump two times, and she was ordered by agents to stop before Lewandowski pulled her away.<\/p>\n \u201cShe crossed in between agents and our protectee after being told not to,\u201d the agent reportedly told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n He didn\u2019t indicate why Secret Service agents didn\u2019t intervene when Fields\u00a0allegedly touched Trump.<\/p>\n In security footage of the incident, Fields cannot be seen making physical contact with Trump. However, the video does appear to show Trump pulling his arm away from Fields. And Trump posted an image of Fields apparently brushing his elbow with her hand at the event.<\/p>\n The footage\u00a0also clearly shows Lewandowski reaching for the reporter\u2019s arm.<\/p>\n But it doesn\u2019t show Fields being nearly thrust to the floor, as she claimed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe supplied those tapes and those tapes to me are very conclusive,\u201d Trump told reporters Tuesday.<\/p>\n Fields took to Twitter to showcase a photograph of what she said was her bruised arm in the incident.<\/p>\n http:\/\/twitter.com\/MichelleFields\/status\/708005032839548929<\/p>\n She shortly after resigned from Breitbart, claiming the news organization did not do enough to support her allegations. Another Breitbart staffer, Ben Shapiro, the editor-at-large, also resigned in protest, saying higher-ups in the organization \u201cabandoned\u201d Fields \u201cin order to protect Trump\u2019s bully campaign manager,\u201d the Palm Beach Post reported.<\/p>\n Lewandowski, meanwhile, when alerted to Fields\u2019 claims, took to Twitter to say to her: \u201cYou are totally delusional. I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never even met you.\u201d<\/p>\n Police continued to investigate the incident, even after Fields left her position at Breitbart.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, they acted on a report filed by Fields and charged Lewandowski with the misdemeanor. The Trump campaign, meanwhile, issued a full denial of the charges.<\/p>\n In an emailed statement, the campaign said: \u201cMr. Lewandowski was issued a Notice to Appear and given a court date. He was not arrested. Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge. He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated. Mr. Lewandowski is represented by Scott Richardson of the law office of Scott N. Richardson, P.A. in West Palm Beach, and Kendall Coffey of Coffey Burlington in Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n The statement also directed all media with questions to contact Richardson\u2019s office.<\/p>\n Also on Tuesday, Trump tweeted: \u201cVictory press conference was over. Why is she allowed to grab me and shout questions? Can I press charges?\u201d<\/p>\n Trump also tweeted a photo of what appeared to be Fields\u2019 hand brushing his elbow.
