There is a very good reason why the meme of Armageddon<\/em> is based on the original conflagration that took place at Megiddo, the site of an ancient city in northern Israel’s Jezebel valley.<\/p>\n

Megiddo is also known as Greek<\/a>: \u039c\u03b5\u03b3\u03b9\u03b4\u03b4\u03ce\/\u039c\u03b1\u03b3\u03b5\u03b4\u03b4\u03ce\u03bd<\/span>, Megidd\u00f3\/Magedd\u00f3n in the Septuagint<\/a>; Latin<\/a>: Mageddo<\/i><\/span>; Assyrian<\/a>: Magiddu, Magaddu; Magidda and Makida in the Amarna tablets; Egyptian<\/a>: Maketi, Makitu, and Makedo. The Book of Revelation<\/a> mentions an apocalyptic battle at Armageddon<\/a>,[1]<\/a><\/sup> a name derived from the Hebrew “Har Megiddo” meaning “Mount of Megiddo”. “Armageddon” has become a byword for the end of the world.[1]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This particular region of the world has been a highly sought after for a number of reasons over the millennia. \u00a0The 3rd Millennium of course is no different. \u00a0The ancient city of Megiddo, known as Armageddon in Greek, has a storied history for major military conflicts and war. \u00a0Hence, it has come to represent a place where epic conflicts are either started or resolved. \u00a0What follows are a few of the famous battles which took place there:<\/p>\n
