If what happened two days ago in Iowa is any indication of\u00a0what lies ahead, the 2016 presidential election will be one\u00a0funky ordeal!<\/span><\/p>\n

With the results in both primaries subject to question, the\u00a0already dubious nature of our political process has increased.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ted Cruz, the Canadian born Texas Senator with the suspicious\u00a0claim to “natural-born” citizenship, accelerated his bad image among\u00a0many by tweeting to the caucus goers a few hours before the vote\u00a0that a key rival, Ben Carson, was about to drop out.<\/span><\/p>\n

That is beyond chutzpah!\u00a0 That smacks of fraud and criminal intent to\u00a0this former attorney, something others besides me and Donald Trump\u00a0have noticed.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the Democratic side, the coin-flip crowd who somehow managed\u00a0to win six straight tosses for Hillary have only undermined whatever\u00a0minimal level of integrity that was left in the process.\u00a0 Their gamble on\u00a0this approach have left some completely disgusted that there is any hope\u00a0of salvaging America’s claim to the democratic process.<\/span><\/p>\n

While many on the sidelines are urging Senator Sanders to go on the\u00a0attack to cry foul, the man from Vermont remains unwilling to go for\u00a0the jugular against a very vulnerable Hillary Clinton.<\/span><\/p>\n

These events are stunning in their symbolic demonstration of how low\u00a0our politics has become, now a virtual joke!\u00a0 Even former President\u00a0Carter is calling the Citizens United decision on campaign finance,\u00a0“legalized bribery!”<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of the world was already having a hard time taking\u00a0seriously a campaign dominated by\u00a0a clever, billionaire Showman from\u00a0New York and a bunch of war-mongering Republicans or the ludicrous\u00a0display of silliness from the Democrats who pit an aging Socialist from\u00a0New England against the scandal-ridden former First Lady who in a\u00a0perfect Universe would be serving time — serious time — in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Clinton baggage is unrelenting and diverse: \u00a0from cattle futures\u00a0to bimbo eruptions; to funny-money campaign contributions; to\u00a0questionable donations to their Foundation; to the strange death of\u00a0Vince Forster; to the current dilemmas surrounding Benghazi and\u00a0private e-mail use for classified information.<\/span><\/p>\n

On and on it goes!\u00a0 Those right-wing conspirators never sleep.\u00a0 But\u00a0anyone with a sense of fairness who has done some research knows\u00a0that it goes far beyond partisanship to the deep rot at the core of the\u00a0Clinton Brand.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that the Republicans seem to have rejected the similarly tainted\u00a0Bush Brand, their circus is seeing a reduction in the number of players\u00a0with several dropping out following Monday’s vote.<\/span><\/p>\n

But any claim to clarity and sanity in this ordeal is belied by the obvious\u00a0reality of what lies ahead: \u00a0petty fights, negative ads aplenty, promises\u00a0that will never be kept, outright lies and more divisiveness to keep the\u00a0public stupefied and distracted from meaningful discussions!<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps it has always been this way in the great American experiment\u00a0of electoral politics.\u00a0 But things do seem to have reached a new low in terms of waste and absurdity in the face of the daunting litany of\u00a0serious issues confronting the polity and its future leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n

What this portends for the potential rise of a third\u00a0party and the future of America remains to be seen.\u00a0 With the election still 40 weeks away, the only thing that might get us through\u00a0this are prayers……………and an abiding sense of humor! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
