DETROIT (WWJ\/AP) \u2013<\/strong> A group is planning to unveil an 8-foot-tall bronze statue featuring a goat-headed Satan in Detroit during a gathering that\u2019s being billed as the \u201clargest public satanic ceremony in\u00a0history.\u201d<\/p>\n The Satanic Temple has said Saturday\u2019s private event will be open only to people with tickets, $25 each. Invitations to \u201cThe Unveiling\u201d\u00a0summoned guests to prepare for \u201ca night of chaos, noise, and debauchery\u2026 Come dance with the Devil and experience<\/span><\/span>\u00a0history in the making.\u201d The event location is not being announced publicly and is known only to those with tickets.<\/p>\n The group said the bronze\u00a0Baphomet monument, which\u00a0weighs about\u00a0one ton and has never been\u00a0seen before\u00a0in public, \u201cis not only an unparalleled artistic triumph, but stands as a testament to plurality and the power of collective action<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u201d\u00a0The statue, which backed by an inverted pentagram and flanked by statues of two young children gazing up at the creature, shows Satan with horns, hooves, wings and a beard.<\/p>\n The group went on to say the unveiling event\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201cwill serve as a call-to-arms from which we\u2019ll kick off our largest fight to date in the name of individual rights to free exercise against self-serving theocrats.\u201d<\/p>\n Photography is strictly prohibited at the 18-and-older event unless, of course, you\u2019re a $75 VIP ticket holder. Those partygoers will have an exclusive opportunity to be photographed seated on the Baphomet monument.<\/p>\n The event originally was to take place at a Detroit restaurant<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, but the venue\u2019s owner said he canceled it after learning of the statue\u2019s unveiling and of the Satanic Temple\u2019s involvement. The group said they were very transparent, though,\u00a0signing the contract as the \u201cSatanic Temple.\u201d<\/p>\n Many wonder how Christians will respond to the ceremony. Minister Todd Sanders, of Strictly Biblical Bible Teaching Ministries in Detroit, says this is a great opportunity for the church.<\/p>\n \u201cThe church can benefit from this because we can view this as an opportunity to get at the truth in terms of what the Satanic Temple believes,\u201d\u00a0Sanders said. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything we should be afraid of at all, we don\u2019t need to cower in fear \u2014 we have the truth on our side as Christians.\u201d<\/p>\n Sanders said that this satanic unveiling is indicative of the end times spoken of in the Bible.<\/p>\n The statue had been planned for the state Capitol in Oklahoma City until Oklahoma\u2019s Supreme Court banned a monument of the Ten Commandments on Capitol grounds.<\/p>\n Detroit was ultimately\u00a0selected for the unveiling because The Satanic Temple in the city has a \u201cstrong congregation,\u201d with more than 200 registered members.<\/p>\n The Satanic Temple says it advocates for the separation of church and state.
