Nothing happens by accident. Even if something really does happen by accident, it&#8217;s not an accident.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the <strong>&#8220;Blackout on Capitol Hill&#8221;<\/strong>, as the headline read today, certainly there is a very real message in this event. Just as there is a very timely message in the second half of the same headline shown below: <strong>&#8220;Washington Loses Power&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Is there anyone who would not agree that the U.S. Federal Government cannot lose power soon enough. Only when Washington loses most its power will the American people be able to take back their rightful place of power over their government. \u00a0The government always seems to forget that it works for the governed &#8230; is paid by the governed &#8230; serves at the pleasure of the governed.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Government has evolved into a foreign entity that has outlived its true purpose. Instead it has become a real menace to society. \u00a0Rather than addressing the most urgent threats to civil society, the federal government has served as the genesis of the greatest threats to <em>&#8220;life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness&#8221;<\/em>. CHIP SOMODEVILLA\/GETTY<\/p><\/div>\n<p>BY POLLY MOSENDZ<br \/>\nNEWSWEEK<\/p>\n<p>Washington D.C. was hit with a power outage Tuesday afternoon that affected the White House, Justice Department and State Department, according to a number of social media reports. Backup generators were used to regain power at the White House and United States Capitol Building. &#8220;The Department continues to carry out its essential functions throughout the outage,&#8221; State Department acting deputy spokesman Jeff Rathke told <em>Newsweek<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>An official <a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/5fbc4026ce0f463497c304383eec04f8\/white-house-other-sites-affected-power-outages-across-dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">told the Associated Press<\/a> there was an explosion at a power plant in Maryland. Reuters reported the explosion was not the cause of malicious intent or foul play.<\/p>\n<p>At least 8,000 people were affected by the outage.
