Following the\u00a0first public impeachment hearing on Wednesday<\/a>, a Trump-supporting husband-wife lawyer duo who are\u00a0now fully entangled<\/a>\u00a0in the Ukraine scandal appeared on Fox Business host Lou Dobbs\u2019 show and pushed an outlandish conspiracy theory involving billionaire Democratic financier George Soros, the State Department, the FBI, and Ukraine.<\/p>\n During Wednesday night\u2019s broadcast of\u00a0Lou Dobbs Tonight<\/em>, attorneys Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing\u2014who reportedly ran\u00a0an off-the-books operation with Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani\u00a0<\/a>to dig up Ukrainian dirt on former vice president Joe Biden\u2014immediately took issue with senior State Department official George Kent, who testified earlier in the day.<\/p>\n After Dobbs,\u00a0an informal adviser to the president,<\/a>\u00a0said he felt Kent and top Ukraine diplomat Bill Taylor were acting \u201cpetty\u201d because they weren\u2019t in Giuliani\u2019s \u201cirregular\u201d Ukrainian diplomatic channel, he took aim at Kent by invoking Soros, a favorite bogeyman of the right.<\/p>\n \u201cGeorge Kent is a separate issue. His motives seem peculiar to me,\u201d Dobbs declared. \u201cJohn Solomon reported in March that George Kent pressured Ukrainian investigators to back off an investigation from the anti-corruption action center that a George Soros group sponsored. This is a complicated deal here. And it seems he wanted to keep an investigation of Ukrainian corruption with limits on it.\u201d<\/p>\n This was all the ammunition diGenova needed to weave an intricate and evidence-proof conspiracy involving the State Department and Soros.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, there\u2019s no doubt that George Soros controls a very large part of the career foreign service of the United States State Department,\u201d the far-right lawyer exclaimed. \u201cHe also controls the activities of FBI agents overseas who work for [non-governmental organizations]. That was very evident in Ukraine. And Kent was part of that. He was a very big protector of Soros.\u201d<\/p>\n The former U.S. attorney, who is a frequent guest on Fox opinion shows, went on claim that Soros \u201chad a daily opportunity to tell the State Department\u201d what to do in Ukraine and \u201cran it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe corrupted FBI officials, he corrupted foreign service officers,\u201d diGenova concluded. \u201cAnd the bottom line is this, George Soros wants to run Ukraine and he\u2019s doing everything he can to use every lever of the United States government to make that happen, for business interests, not for good government business.\u201d<\/p>\n Dobbs\u2019 show has been a popular landing spot for Soros-based conspiracies, many of which traffic in anti-Semitic tropes. In September,\u00a0Dobbs claimed Soros\u2019<\/a>\u00a0\u201ctentacles reach out into various non-government organizations and nonprofits,\u201d which evoked Nazi-era propaganda.
