Adam Schiff<\/a>\u00a0of orchestrating a \u201ccalculated coup\u201d to take down President Trump as the House prepares to hold the first public hearing of its impeachment inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear now more than ever, this is a calculated coup and it is being orchestrated by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Adam Schiff<\/a>,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/kevin-mccarthy\/\">Mr. McCarthy<\/a>\u00a0on Fox\u2019s \u201cSunday Morning Futures.\u201d \u201cWe are watching him orchestrate the takedown of a president after we just celebrated 30 years [since] taking down the Berlin Wall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Republican leader\u2019s broadside at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Mr. Schiff<\/a>, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, came after the California Democrat refused to allow Republicans to call Hunter Biden or the anonymous \u201cwhistleblower\u201d to testify at the hearings starting Wednesday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. McCarthy: This is a calculated coup orchestrated by Adam Schiff <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/luesBf7mKP\">https:\/\/t.co\/luesBf7mKP<\/a> <br \/>@GOPLeader<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SundayFutures?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SundayFutures<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FoxNews<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Maria Bartiromo (@MariaBartiromo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MariaBartiromo\/status\/1193566323705597954?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Mr. Schiff<\/a>\u00a0rejected Saturday ranking member Devin Nunes\u2019s request to have the \u201cwhistleblower\u201d and Hunter Biden testify, saying he wanted to avoid \u201csham investigations into the Bidens\u201d and protect the anonymous informant\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n<p>In addition,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Mr. Schiff<\/a>\u00a0told Mr. Nunes in a Saturday letter that the secondhand information relayed by the \u201cwhistleblower\u201d is now \u201credundant and unnecessary,\u201d given the \u201cever-growing body of evidence\u201d from witnesses and documents, as well as the White House transcript of the call.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"pagebreak\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump asked the Ukrainian leader to investigate possible corruption regarding Hunter Biden and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, prompting Democrats to accuse the president of leveraging foreign aid to dig up dirt on a political opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump has said there was no quid pro quo, and that he continues to seek information on possible foreign interference in the 2016 election.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/kevin-mccarthy\/\">Mr. McCarthy<\/a>\u00a0said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Mr. Schiff<\/a>\u00a0was serving as \u201cthe fact witness, the prosecutor, the judge and jury.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/adam-schiff\/\">Adam Schiff<\/a>\u00a0now is dictating that only the chair and ranker [member] and staff \u2014 so he\u2019s saying staff is now more important than members of Congress in those first 45 minutes,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/kevin-mccarthy\/\">Mr. McCarthy<\/a>\u00a0said. \u201cHe is trying to control all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/kevin-mccarthy\/\">Mr. McCarthy<\/a>\u00a0shook up the Republican representation on the committee by saying that Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas has agreed to be replaced for the duration of the impeachment hearings with Rep.
