{"id":132221,"date":"2019-11-20T19:22:19","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T23:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=132221"},"modified":"2019-11-20T19:22:19","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T23:22:19","slug":"there-is-no-impeachable-offense-why-are-they-wasting-our-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=132221","title":{"rendered":"There is no impeachable offense&#8212;Why are they wasting our time?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\">The Schiff Committee Finds No Impeachable Offense<\/h2>\n<p><!--more-->by Renee Parsons<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After several days of unremarkable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=81saUKiH-Oc\">testimony<\/a> by assorted State Department functionaries<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>the Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=33YLnToDp5U\">continue to struggle <\/a>with ferreting out a legally defensible impeachable offense to warrant the three ring circus currently being conducted by Rep. Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Intel Committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On a railroad through the Intel Committee, the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump\u2019s alleged attempt at a Quid Pro Quo (QPQ), Dems are no closer to a sure-fire \u2018we got him now\u2019 piece of evidence than when the inquiry began as they shift gears to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/15\/us\/politics\/bribery-impeachment-explained.html?&amp;te=1&amp;nl=morning-briefing&amp;emc=edit_nn_20191117?campaign_id=9&amp;instance_id=13917&amp;segment_id=18869&amp;user_id=061851a52ed9b3fd731cbd1d711069e0&amp;regi_id=66981912_nn_20191117\">widen the prob<\/a>e into<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Hi7iwYkUcFM\">bribery\u2019 and\/or \u2018extortion,<\/a>\u2019 whichever shoe fits.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At the outset, it is essential to recognize that the debate surrounding Trump\u2019s impeachment is not to protect the Republican status quo as a preference to the Democratic status quo \u2013 as both have failed the American people when trusted honorable people of quality were needed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Today\u2019s assembly of House Republicans opposing Schiff et al provide a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JCSBd580P2A\">glimme<\/a>r that perhaps such individuals may yet exist.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The opposition to the Democrat\u2019s impeachment inquiry is, more importantly, an effort to preserve what remains of a constitutional democracy and the rule of law on the outside<\/span> chance that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KpTmCPG6vFM\">true patriot<\/a> of unimpeachable, exceptional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B_Iehlk-0Eo\">character <\/a>may arise from the ashes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Once Schiff agreed to take the behind-closed-doors witness depositions public, <a href=\"https:\/\/rules.house.gov\/bill\/116\/h-res-PIH-inquiry\">HR 660<\/a> was approved to establish new ground rules favorable to the Democrats to determine<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>\u201c<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach<\/i>.\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Those new rules invest Schiff with an insatiable<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>power to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KJynOZSaFY4\"><span class=\"s4\">rein in<\/span><\/a> Republican committee members when and how he sees fit \u2013 limiting the ability of the minority to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/trump-impeachment-inquiry\/live-blog\/nov-19-impeachment-hearings-live-updates-n1085171\/ncrd1085691#liveBlogHeader\"><span class=\"s4\">question witnesses<\/span><\/a>, limiting due process for the accused and to deny Republican requests for witnesses unfavorable to Schiff like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KJynOZSaFY4\"><span class=\"s4\">alleged WB<\/span><\/a> himself.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The first day of hearings began with Schiff opening statement inserting Russia into the fray with a totally inaccurate portrayal: \u201c<span class=\"s7\"><i>in 2014 Russia invaded<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>US ally Ukraine to reverse that nation\u2019s embrace of the west and to fulfill Vladimir Putin\u2019s desire to rebuild a Russia empire.<\/i><\/span>\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What Schiff conveniently omitted was the role of Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State in Kiev in February, 2014 to <a href=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/2015\/07\/13\/the-mess-that-nuland-made\/\">effect the US overthrow<\/a> of Ukraine\u2019s democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych when he refused to join the EU in favor of a trade agreement with Moscow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In his statement, Schiff, known as the Dems most bold prevaricator on Russiagate, omitted any mention of the alleged WB\/CIA operative who filed the Complaint and, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2eip14ZOLro\">public promises <\/a>to the contrary, is not expected to testify on the matter as neither is Hunter Biden whose presence on the Burisma Board is central to the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">During Day One, two career State Department officials, known as Ambassadors, pontificated on their version of how foreign policy should be conducted as if their experience entitled them to special decision-making authority above and beyond an elected President of the United States.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Both remained ignorant and indifferent to the fact that <span class=\"s7\">unelected, embedded bureaucrats do not conduct their version of reality different from what an elected President has determined<\/span>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Neither offered any incriminating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JCSBd580P2A&amp;t=7s\">evidence of wrongdoing<\/a>, no bombshell of misbehavior or any compelling revelations besides scant meaningless trivia that had already been stated.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All State Department testimony is against the background of the US State Department role in the 2014 coup what former President Obama referred to as \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democraticunderground.com\/10026167137\">brokering a transition<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On day one, former Ambassador William Taylor was the first, albeit the Democrats Star Witness who did not provide the smoking gun the Democrats needed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>When a stand up comic as talented as Jimmy Dore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LPePdE8Zu8c\">effectively destroyed<\/a> former Ambassador William Taylor\u2019s testimony, disintegration of the Democrat\u2019s case for impeachment cannot be far behind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent then proved his own agenda in conflict with Trump\u2019s objective that Ukraine is not vital to US interests when he reiterated Schiff\u2019s earlier comments regarding the 2014 coup as a \u201c<i>popular revolution of dignity in 2014 forcing a corrupt pro Russian communist to flee to Moscow \u2013 after that Russian invaded Ukraine, including the Crimea and the Donbass territories currently occupied by Russia.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>W<\/i>hat neither Schiff nor Kent mentioned was that Volodymyr Zelensky was o<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/World-News\/2019\/04\/21\/Comedian-Volodymyr-Zelensky-elected-Ukraines-president\/8821555872333\/\">verwhelmingly elected<\/a> President of Ukraine over US puppet Petro Poroshenko with 73% of the vote and the stated goal of cleaning up corruption, resolving the conflict in the Donbas and normalizing relations with Russia. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Putin and Zelensky are scheduled to meet in Paris on December 9<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Kent went on to describe having a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BpNl3b1SYtc&amp;t=13085s\"><i>front row seat<\/i><\/a><i>\u201d <\/i>in early 2015 when he \u201c<i>raised questions with the Deputy Prosecutor General about why the (Burisma) investigation had been terminate<\/i>d. Later he said he \u2018<span class=\"s7\"><i>became aware that Hunter Biden was on the Burisma board and soon after, in a briefing call with the National Security staff of VP Biden\u2019s office in 2015<\/i><\/span>\u201d, he \u201c<span class=\"s7\"><i>raised concerns that Hunter Biden status on the Board member could create the perception of a conflict of interest.<\/i><\/span><i>\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/i>In other words, if it was permissible for Kent to raise questions of the younger Biden\u2019s presence on Burisma, the President of the US would have an even more legitimate reason for concern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Kent confirmed that \u2018t<span class=\"s7\"><i>here are and always have been <\/i><b><i>conditionality <\/i><\/b><i>placed on our sovereign loan guarantees for Ukraine; the IMF does the same thing.<\/i><\/span>\u201d which sounds like an administration using political incentives as a negotiating tool to achieve political objectives.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In other words, it is common practice for any administration to provide loan guarantees with strings attached.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Day Two, former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7Lde8Epd7yk\">US Ambassador<\/a> to Ukraine Marie Yuvanovich testified for longer than was necessary since she had nothing relevant to contribute except how her feelings were hurt as she was summarily d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BpNl3b1SYtc&amp;t=13085s\">ismissed from her position<\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Soon after Yuvanovich made a <a href=\"https:\/\/ua.usembassy.gov\/remarks-by-ambassador-yovanovitch-on-the-occasion-of-the-5th-anniversary-of-the-ukraine-crisis-media-centers-founding\/\">controversial statement<\/a> calling for the removal of Ukraine\u2019s special anti corruption prosecutor,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>she was told the President had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B_Iehlk-0Eo\">lost faith in her<\/a> and that she would be dismissed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Any President has the constitutional right to dismiss any State Department diplomat or any other political appointee at any time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\">Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/tucker-carlson-mocks-marie-yovanovitch-after-testimony-how-many-other-neurotics-do-we-have-as-ambassadors\/amp\/\"><span class=\"s8\"><b>inquired<\/b><\/span><\/a> of Yuvanovich<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>&#8220;<span class=\"s7\"><i>Do you have any information regarding the President of the United States accepting any bribe<\/i><\/span><i>s<\/i>?&#8221;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Yovanovitch responded: &#8220;No.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p8\">Stewart again inquired \u201c<span class=\"s7\"><i>Do you have any information regarding any criminal activity that he has been involved with at all<\/i><\/span><i>?\u201d\u00a0<\/i> Again Yovanovitch responded &#8220;No.&#8221;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Period.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>End of Story.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NSC staffer Lt. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZdKjmxDaEk8\">Col. Alexander Vindman<\/a> testified this week and offered his opinion athat the President was \u201cinappropriate\u201d or \u201cimproper\u201d but was unable to provide Ranking Member Nunes with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/100000006833768\/impeachment-hearings-highlights.html?te=1&amp;nl=impeachment-briefing&amp;emc=edit_ib_20191120?campaign_id=140&amp;instance_id=13971&amp;segment_id=18931&amp;user_id=061851a52ed9b3fd731cbd1d711069e0&amp;regi_id=6698191220191120\">a factual basis<\/a> of wrongdoing or to questions as Schiff interceded on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/theconservativetreehouse.com\/2019\/11\/19\/lt-col-alexander-vindman-outs-himself-as-source-for-cia-whistleblower-complaint-video\/\">WB<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">By the end of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LPePdE8Zu8c\">day three<\/a>, former Special Envoy to Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/19\/us\/politics\/volker-statement-testimony.html?te=1&amp;nl=impeachment-briefing&amp;emc=edit_ib_20191120?campaign_id=140&amp;instance_id=13971&amp;segment_id=18931&amp;user_id=061851a52ed9b3fd731cbd1d711069e0&amp;regi_id=6698191220191120\">Kurt Volker <\/a>testified that he saw no QPQ and no evidence of bribery or extortion. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/19\/us\/politics\/morrison-statement-testimony.html?te=1&amp;nl=impeachment-briefing&amp;emc=edit_ib_20191120?campaign_id=140&amp;instance_id=13971&amp;segment_id=18931&amp;user_id=061851a52ed9b3fd731cbd1d711069e0&amp;regi_id=6698191220191120\">Tim Morrison<\/a>, former National Security staff testified he did not agree with Schiff\u2019s interpretation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/full-transcript-of-call-between-trump-and-zelensky-released_3094727.html\">Trump Zelensky July 25th transcript. <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On day four, another Star Witness former Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland also failed to provide Schiff with the necessary clincher to provide an irrefutable impeachable offense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">What was inescapable during the hearing was the absence of parliamentary courtesy or simply personal gracious conduct on the part of Chair of the Committee who was consistently intrusive as he overstepped his role with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KJynOZSaFY4\">arbitrary, prejudicial <\/a>violations of Roberts Rules of Order.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Schiff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yZWwHO7JUEM\">routinely ruled Points of Order<\/a> to be out of order with an inflated sense of magisterial presence.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>His demeanor proved to be classless and boorish as if he had been granted special dispensation from the House of Representative\u2019s<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Code of Conduct to treat his colleagues with disdain and contempt.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Schiff routinely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OmOm_lRj_Ns\">refused to \u2018recognize<\/a>\u2019 a Member, liberally gavelled his authority to cut off debate and at times, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=td0WowGpCJE\">badgered Republican witnesses<\/a> and further treated Republican Members, who are his peers, as second class citizens in what was once regarded as a collegial body. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Once the dust settles, the House Ethics Committee may ultimately weigh in on Schiff\u2019s character and the manner in which he conducted the Committee\u2019s business.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">Renee Parsons\u00a0has been a member of the ACLU\u2019s Florida State Board of Directors and president of the ACLU Treasure Coast Chapter.
