{"id":131181,"date":"2019-11-03T08:43:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-03T12:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=131181"},"modified":"2019-11-03T08:43:31","modified_gmt":"2019-11-03T12:43:31","slug":"schiff-pelosi-and-the-other-communist-coup-plotters-knew-from-the-start-that-the-contrived-cia-whistleblower-would-never-testify","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=131181","title":{"rendered":"Schiff, Pelosi and the other communist coup plotters knew from the start that the contrived CIA whistleblower WOULD NEVER TESTIFY"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>&#8216;No further discussion&#8217;: Talks halt between whistleblower lawyers and Schiff staff amid expectation he won\u2019t testify<\/h1>\n<p>by Steven Nelson<br \/>\nWashington Examiner<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/read-whistleblower-complaint-about-trump-here\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">whose complaint<\/a>\u00a0launched impeachment proceedings against President Trump is unlikely to testify to Congress, as talks have ceased between his legal team and committee leaders.<\/p>\n<p>House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who has overseen depositions in Democrats&#8217; impeachment proceeding, was initially eager for the whistleblower to testify before citing concern about the person being identified.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans accuse Schiff, a California Democrat, of changing course to prevent inquiries into his staff&#8217;s dealings with the whistleblower before he filed his Aug. 12 complaint to the Intelligence Community inspector general.<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with the discussions told the\u00a0<i>Washington Examiner<\/i> that talks halted over potential testimony from the whistleblower and there is no discussion of testimony from a second whistleblower, who supported the first&#8217;s claims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no indication that either of the original whistleblowers will be called to testify or appear before the Senate or House Intelligence committees. There is no further discussion ongoing between the legal team and the committees,\u201d the person said.<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower is a career CIA officer with expertise in Ukraine policy who served on the White House National Security Council during the Obama administration, when 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was &#8220;point man&#8221; for Ukraine, and during the early months of the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>Schiff spokesman Patrick Boland did not respond to requests for comment. \u201cI\u2019m not aware of any discussions\u201d on having the whistleblower testify, said a House Republican source familiar with the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the House passed a resolution establishing a framework for Trump impeachment proceedings, belatedly granting Republicans the ability to subpoena witnesses, but only if Schiff and fellow Democrats on the Intelligence Committee agree.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Zaid, who along with Andrew Bakaj is an attorney for both the original whistleblower and the second whistleblower, told the\u00a0<i>Washington Examiner<\/i>\u00a0the legal team was willing to work with lawmakers so long as anonymity is ensured. \u201cWe remain committed to cooperating with any congressional oversight committee&#8217;s requests so long as it properly protects and ensures the anonymity of our clients,\u201d Zaid said.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Zaid and Bakaj\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/pinnacle-of-irresponsibility-attorneys-decline-to-confirm-cia-officer-eric-ciaramella-is-whistleblower\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">declined to confirm or deny in a statement<\/a>\u00a0to the\u00a0<i>Washington Examiner<\/i>\u00a0that Eric Ciaramella, 33, a career CIA analyst and former Ukraine director on the NSC, was the whistleblower after a report by RealClearInvestigations.<\/p>\n<p>Schiff said last month that the whistleblower had indicated a willingness to talk and that he \u201clook[ed] forward to the whistleblower\u2019s testimony as soon as this week.\u201d On Sept. 25, he declared in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligence.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=705\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>, \u201cWe need to speak with the whistleblower.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<div class=\"TweetUrl\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1176564220407767042\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Schiff has since backtracked, saying\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2019\/10\/13\/schiff-whistleblower-impeachment-probe-045910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Oct. 13<\/a>, \u201cOur primary interest right now is making sure that that person is protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The initial whistleblower lacked firsthand information, but significant details he provided proved true about Trump\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/read-white-house-transcript-of-trumps-call-with-ukraines-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">July 25 call<\/a>\u00a0with Ukraine\u2019s president, in which Trump requested an investigation of whether Ukraine possessed a DNC server and an investigation of Biden and his son Hunter Biden, who was being paid by a Ukrainian energy firm.<\/p>\n<p>The House Intelligence Committee has since interviewed people with direct knowledge of the call and Trump\u2019s pressure on Ukraine. This week, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the current Ukraine director on the NSC, who listened in on the July 25 call, testified to the committee. On Thursday, NSC Senior Director for Russia and Europe Tim Morrison testified.<\/p>\n<p>Trump sought the investigations in Ukraine as the White House withheld about $400 million in foreign aid.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans insist the whistleblower is crucial to understanding the extent of Schiff\u2019s involvement in filing the complaint and the extent of the whistleblower&#8217;s relationships with Democrats. They likely would press the whistleblower on specific\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnWHuber\/status\/1177373227888390144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">apparent errors<\/a>\u00a0in the initial complaint, such as the identity of U.S. officials on the call, and whether the transcript contained sensitive information that would warrant storing it in a more secure and less accessible computer system.<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower would likely be asked who they spoke with at the White House to acquire their information.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for Republican and Democratic leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee did not respond to requests for comment.
