Retired General: Trump’s Syria Oil Plan Turns US Troops Into “Pirates”<\/h1>\n

After President Trump\u00a0suggested\u00a0on Sunday<\/a>\u00a0that he would like to make a deal with\u00a0Exxon Mobil or \u201cone of our great companies\u201d\u00a0to go into occupied Syria and take the oil, one of the few former top defense officials to explicitly condemn the plan\u00a0which clearly smacks of\u00a0naked US imperialism<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0retired General Barry McCaffrey.<\/p>\n

Referencing Trump’s comments, an outraged McCaffrey posed\u00a0the question on Twitter<\/a>,\u00a0“WHAT ARE WE BECOMING… PIRATES?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

He further stressed that\u00a0the oil\u00a0“belongs to Syria”<\/strong>\u00a0and that ultimately “we lack Congressional authority to stay” in the country at all.<\/p>\n
