The 656-acre fire which was sparked when a branch fell on power lines (operated by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) is just 5% contained.<\/p>\n<p><a least 16 schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are now closed due to fire conditions.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/10\/29\/us\/california-fires-tuesday\/index.html\"><em>CNN<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrh.noaa.gov\/total_forecast\/getprod.php?new&amp;prod=XXXAFDLOX&amp;wfo=lox\"><em>NOAA<\/em><\/a>\u00a0the current threats include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>A &#8220;remarkable and dangerous&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/12\/06\/weather\/santa-ana-winds-explained\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Santa Ana winds<\/a>\u00a0event<\/strong>\u00a0in Southern California \u2014 perhaps the strongest this season \u2014 is expected to bring gusts of 60-70 mph in the valleys and up to 80 mph in the mountains<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>from late Tuesday night into Wednesday, the National Weather<\/p>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\">\u2022 Strong winds Tuesday afternoon in Northern California,\u00a0<strong>with gusts up to 50 mph<\/strong>, the weather service&#8217;s Storm Prediction Center\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/fire_wx\/fwdy1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\"><\/div>\n<blockquote><p>The worsening conditions come as firefighters across the state battle at least 11 wildfires that have combined to leave thousands of people under evacuation orders.<\/p>\n<p>In western Los Angeles, where the Getty Fire has charred more than 650 acres since Monday, the expected winds mean roughly 20,000 people under evacuation orders there &#8220;will not be returning to their homes this evening,&#8221; Mayor Eric Garcetti said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stay away until we lift that order,&#8221; Garcetti said in a news conference Tuesday morning. &#8211;<em><a
