Adam Schiff (D-CA) of &#8216;helping to write&#8217; a CIA whistleblower&#8217;s complaint at the heart of an impeachment inquiry, the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>\u00a0is out with a Wednesday article designed to put distance between the House Intelligence Committee Chairman and the accusation &#8211; suggesting Schiff had no more than a\u00a0<strong>vague sneak peek<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump claims Adam Schiff wrote the whistleblower complaint. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jSv6pe9lcT\">pic.twitter.com\/jSv6pe9lcT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jason Easley (@PoliticusJason) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliticusJason\/status\/1179470273302716416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 2, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/10\/02\/us\/politics\/adam-schiff-whistleblower.html\"><em>The Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reports,\u00a0&#8220;The Democratic head of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, learned about the outlines of a C.I.A. officer\u2019s concerns that President Trump had abused his power\u00a0<strong>days before the officer filed\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2019\/09\/26\/us\/politics\/whistle-blower-complaint.html?module=inline\">a whistle-blower complaint<\/a><\/strong>,&#8221; adding &#8220;the original accusation was vague,&#8221; and &#8220;The aide did not share the whistle-blower\u2019s identity with Mr. Schiff or anyone else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So &#8211; according to the\u00a0<em>Times,\u00a0<\/em>Schiff kinda sorta knew what the whistleblower said, and a House Intel Committee aide told him (or her) to get an attorney &#8211;\u00a0Andrew Bakaj &#8211;<strong>\u00a0who &#8220;interned for Schumer in the spring of 2001 and for Clinton in the fall of the same year,&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/09\/24\/attorney-for-anti-trump-whistleblower-worked-for-hillary-clinton-chuck-schumer\/\"><em>The Federalist<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"my_spring1\"><\/aside>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Times<\/em>\u00a0goes to great lengths to explain that nothing was untwoard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Like other whistle-blowers have done before and since under Republican and Democratic-controlled committees, the whistle-blower contacted the committee for guidance on how to report possible wrongdoing within the jurisdiction of the intelligence community,&#8221; said Schiff spokesman Patrick Boland.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Shocker (not really)&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepAdamSchiff?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RepAdamSchiff<\/a> knew the whistleblower\u2019s allegations before the whistleblower\u2019s atty &amp; before there was a whistleblower complaint. No surprise who told this person to be a whistleblower, hire an atty &amp; file a complaint w no 1st hand knowledge. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yeg2lwOagV\">https:\/\/t.co\/yeg2lwOagV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Lee Zeldin (@LeeMZeldin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeeMZeldin\/status\/1179469596031619072?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 2, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Trump, meanwhile, is gunning for Schiff.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"in-content-dianomi\" class=\"placement placement-embedded placement-dianomi\"><\/aside>\n<blockquote><p>On Wednesday, Mr. Trump said Mr. Schiff should be forced to resign for reading a parody of the Ukraine call at a hearing, an act Mr. Trump has called treasonous and criminal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t call him shifty Schiff for nothing,\u201d said Mr. Trump. \u201cHe\u2019s a shifty dishonest guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Schiff\u2019s aides followed procedures involving the C.I.A. officer\u2019s accusations, Mr. Boland said.
