It would also add a new section of law requiring the Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to jointly create a medical exemption review panel that shall review all medical exemptions.<\/span> If passed, the new law would become effective on July 1, 2020.<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _3dgx _2vxa\">We have seen what happens to families in California and New York where religious exemptions have been removed and medical exemptions are reviewed and restricted. SB 64 is a dangerous bill that needs to be stopped early so Florida doesn\u2019t become like California or New York.<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _3dgx _2vxa\">The 2020 legislative session in Florida convenes on 1\/14\/2020, however bills are filed in advance (<a href=\"https:\/\/l.facebook.com\/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flsenate.gov%2FSession%2FCalendar%2F2020%2FSession%2520Dates%25202019-05-09%2520100207.PDF%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3WBK1Yb3UbgNirFOmzoyfoRfFJx54mrUU7x-mi3axzrm3UTZSgk7g1WFU&amp;h=AT1b-fU7Se3Vgfr5eCmq9LqjprHQ2-s4JwrFWTX7XM-ynOiNu3Yyvik_ehJVc4A04WaqUXB8OuexdDM_EUDsewBF_7exhyNQZOl2oJiTEkQdR8FDIQpb4ufEo8-mfG5TdmlGgYeGomFaLPNR05z4eISm1Fw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" data-lynx-mode=\"asynclazy\">session dates)<\/a>. It is very important that families who support the religious and medical exemptions get out ahead of Senator Book\u2019s effort and talk to their legislators and like-minded families to get involved now! Those who are currently in office during this interim period will be the same legislators who will vote on this bill this spring as statewide legislative offices are not on the ballot this fall.<\/div>\n<div class=\"_2cuy _3dgx _2vxa\"><span class=\"_4yxo _4yxr\">ACTION REQUIRED:<\/span><\/div>\n<ol class=\"_5a_q _509r\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509s\">\n<div class=\"_2cuy _3dgx _2vxa\"><span class=\"_4yxo\">Contact your Florida state senator and state representative and respectfully ask them to oppose SB 64 in the 2020 legislative session.<\/span><\/div>\n<ol class=\"_5a_q _509r\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509s _2vxa\"><span class=\"_4yxo\">As soon as possible, schedule an in-person meeting with your state senator and representative to express to them how important it is to your family to have religious and unrestricted medical exemptions available<\/span>. Share your vaccine reaction, denial of medical care, and harassment or discrimination stories.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509s _2vxa\"><span class=\"_4yxo\">Email your state senator and representative<\/span> also using their preferred method of contact (see d.)<\/li>\n<li class=\"_2cuy _509s _2vxa\"><span class=\"_4yxo\">Attend events where your legislators may be speaking or presenting and express your concerns there as well<\/span>.
