Then she knows everything that goes on,\u201d she said. When asked if Sara Netanyahu influences governmental appointments, Adelson said, \u201cThose too, I believe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">The Adelsons made their statements in the police investigation into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/.premium-this-netanyahu-corruption-case-is-the-gravest-threat-to-israel-s-democracy-1.6920998\">Case 2000<\/a>, involving a deal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/misc\/tags\/TAG-benjamin-netanyahu-1.5599046\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a>\u00a0allegedly negotiated with Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes for favorable coverage in return for undermining Israel Hayom, its main rival. The deal was never consummated. Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit has decided to charge Netanyahu with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/police-expected-to-recommend-that-pm-be-tried-in-case-2000-too-1.5440197\">fraud and breach of trust<\/a>\u00a0in this case, subject to a hearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">Sheldon Adelson also told police that Benjamin Netanyahu had sought to convince him to replace Israel Hayom&#8217;s editor-in-chief with Nir Hefetz \u2013 who was once media adviser to the Netanyahu family (and has now turned state&#8217;s witness).<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">The Prime Minister\u2019s Office denied the entirety of the Adelsons\u2019 statements: \u201cExcept for the names mentioned there isn\u2019t a single word of truth in this fraudulent report. It is a pile of distorted and defamatory lies. Its entire aim is to harm Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife on the eve of the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">In her testimony, Miriam Adelson described an outburst by the first lady, saying, \u201cAt dinner at our house she screamed terribly loudly, to the point where Bibi told her they were leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">When asked what Sara Netanyahu was screaming about, Dr. Adelson replied, \u201cThat I\u2019m sucking her blood. It was horrible. She lost her senses. I hugged her and said, \u2018Saraleh, it\u2019ll be alright.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">Dr. Adelson said the prime minister\u2019s wife was \u201csimply not healthy,\u201d adding, \u201cAs a doctor I have sympathy for people who are not healthy. I treat addicts. She is not healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">Referring to Sara Netanyahu\u2019s hatred of Yamina leaders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/misc\/tags\/TAG-naftali-bennett-1.5599186\">Naftali Bennett<\/a>\u00a0and Ayelet Shaked, Dr. Adelson testified, \u201cIt bothers me that we have a prime minister whose wife decides everything. I was livid after the last election when he [the prime minister] didn\u2019t form a coalition with Bennett because she hates him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">&#8220;The fate of the Jewish people is decided because the lady hates Bennett and Shaked, so he doesn&#8217;t form a coalition with the fitting right-wingers,&#8221; Adelson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">Dr. Adelson also testified that Sara Netanyahu had asked her to make a donation to an organization that served the Netanyahus\u2019 political interests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-body-text\">Dr. Adelson told investigators: \u201cThere\u2019s a fund that belongs to a Moroccan Jew that she wanted me to donate to. She said it was nice to donate to scholarships for children of Moroccan descent. And then she said a sentence that I did not like.
