Last summer, watching television and some congressional hearings,\u00a0I figured out where these orders came from.\u00a0<u><strong>They came from a guy named Peter Strzok.<\/strong><\/u>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-width-video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe id=\"fitvid6345\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T5J-1rs1LJo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Then, Byrne told\u00a0<em>CNN<\/em>\u00a0that the FBI\u00a0<strong>directed him to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/overstock-ceo-claims-fbi-told-him-to-pursue-romantic-relationship-with-maria-butina\/\">pursue a romantic relationship<\/a>with accused Russian spy Maria Butina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Eventually, yes they did,&#8221; the former Overstock CEO told host Chris Cuomo in response to the question of whether\u00a0<strong>they &#8220;told you you needed to have romantic relationship with somebody.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<aside id=\"in-content-dianomi\" class=\"placement placement-embedded placement-dianomi\"><\/aside>\n<p>&#8220;It was so strange that I was thinking,\u00a0<strong>it\u2019s almost like they\u2019re letting this can-o-scandal develop and someday they\u2019re going to shake it up and crack it and spray it all over the Republican Party<\/strong>,&#8221; said Byrne, who added that the FBI ordered him to break up with Butina &#8211; only to ask him to rekindle their romance in the summer of 2016 during the Russian election meddling probe.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-width-video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe id=\"fitvid484735\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d50j_WJEzgU?start=644\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;They came back to me and said, \u2018Boy, what a mistake we made. Russia, you\u2019re right \u2026 highest national priority,&#8221; said Byrne.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They said, \u2018<strong>We want to be clear \u2013 this never happens in the United States<\/strong>,&#8221; Byrne added. &#8220;&#8216;We are the good guys. We don\u2019t work like the bad guys, but we need to ask you to rekindle a romantic relationship with Maria Butina.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Butina was sentenced to 18 months in prison for acting &#8220;under direction of&#8221; a Russian official and banker Alexander Torshin to infiltrate American political groups like the NRA and promote Russian&#8217;s interests in the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Following Byrne&#8217;s interview with MacCallum, she asked former Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to respond, to which he said: &#8220;<strong>He&#8217;s describing it like he was being used as a source and being inserted into a situation by the feds<\/strong>, and there are protocols for handling sources,&#8221; adding &#8220;All of this can be corroborated. That&#8217;s the key.
