The FBI formally documented the apparent anti-Trump bias of British ex-spy Christopher Steele shortly after the November 2016 presidential election \u2014 yet despite the red flags, continued to use his unverified dossier in multiple Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court warrant application renewals, records obtained by Fox News show.<\/p>\n
The partially redacted documents, first obtained by Judicial Watch, also revealed that top Justice Department official Bruce Ohr maintained contact with Steele for at least six months after Steele was fired by the FBI for unauthorized media contacts in November 2016. The records further confirmed that Ohr knew of Steele\u2019s anti-Trump bias before the 2016 election.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, explained to Hannity on Thursday evening that, clearly, there was deep corruption on the Department of Justice during the 2016 presidential election, and these documents prove it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHere\u2019s what we\u2019re looking at: Systematic corruption at the highest level of the Department of Justice and the FBI against President Trump and in favor of Hillary Clinton,\u201d Graham said.<\/p>\n
When asked by Hannity whether officials \u201clied purposefully\u201d on the notorious FISA warrant application to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page, Graham replied, \u201cThe best you could say is that they were incompetent.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most likely outcome is that they wanted a result,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the insurance policy is what we\u2019re seeing here, getting into the Trump campaign,\u201d Graham continued. \u201cThe FISA warrant against Carter Page was a fraud, I believe. The counterintelligence investigation is something we have to look at very closely.\u201d<\/p>\n
Newly release records obtained by Fox News revealed that the FBI had formally documented Steele\u2019s bias just after the November, 2016 presidential election.<\/p>\n
And yet, the continued to rely on the document to apply for subsequent FISA warrant rentals.<\/p>\n
This is huge.<\/p>\n
The documents, which were originally obtained by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, also reveal that top DOJ official Bruce Ohr had maintained contact with Steele for at least six months after the ex-Brtish spy had been fired by the FBI for making unauthorized contacts with the media in November of 2016.<\/p>\n
Fox explains:<\/p>\n
The summaries of FBI interviews with Ohr, known as 302s, show that Ohr knew by September 2016 \u2014 a month before the initial application to surveil the Trump campaign \u2014 that Steele was \u201cdesperate\u201d that Donald Trump not be elected president.<\/p>\n
A source close to the matter told Fox News \u201cthis had the effect of putting a senior DOJ official on notice that a witness\/source had an extreme bias\u201d \u2014 yet the FISA warrant application went through in October 2016 with multiple renewals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Graham, in his appearance on hannity, noted that if a Republican operative had behaved the same way Steele did, the news would be explosive.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou could not turn on your television,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
