Wrapping up an out-of-sight weekend at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., President Donald Trump said Sunday that \u201cperhaps\u201d more needs to be done with\u00a0respect to gun control<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHate has no place in our country and we\u2019re going to take care of it,\u201d Trump told reporters as he prepared to board Air Force One to return to Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n Trump said he will make a statement Monday on the two mass shootings over the weekend and what can be done in response.\u00a0Trump said he has also spoken with Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director\u00a0Christopher Wray about the mass violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n He said his statement will be at around 10 a.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n Trump spoke as Democrats accused him of all but encouraging violence through his rhetorical attacks on migrants and lawmakers who oppose him.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a President of the United States that uses white nationalist rhetoric and engages in racism,\u201d said Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa. \u201cFrom its early days, the Trump Administration has sought to limit funding to groups dedicated to countering white extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump did not discuss specific ideas but said \u201ca lot\u201d is already being done to keep guns out of the wrong hands, and he has spoken to many governors and members of Congress about the issue.<\/p>\n He said his administration has done a lot, but: \u201cPerhaps more has to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n More than 24 hours after the first reports of the shooting in El Paso, Trump spoke on camera with reporters for about three minutes.<\/p>\n Again expressing condolences to the victims\u2019 families, Trump also congratulated law enforcement agencies in Texas and Ohio for their responses.<\/p>\n \u201cAs bad as it was, it could have been so much worse,”\u00a0 Trump said.\u00a0“We have to get it stopped. This has been going on for years.”<\/p>\n Trump spent the weekend behind the gates of his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., out of sight from reporters.<\/p>\n \u201cGod bless the people of El Paso,\u201d Trump tweeted as he prepared to leave Bedminster back en route to Washington. \u201cGod bless the people of Dayton, Ohio<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
