{"id":124723,"date":"2019-07-05T07:50:30","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T11:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=124723"},"modified":"2019-07-07T07:47:41","modified_gmt":"2019-07-07T11:47:41","slug":"governments-5g-roll-out-using-national-security-to-trump-health-dangers-and-safety-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=124723","title":{"rendered":"Government&#8217;s 5G Roll-out Using &#8216;National Security&#8217; to Trump Health Dangers and Safety Concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Complexities of 5G and National Security <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">by Renee Parsons<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In case you missed the kickoff, there is an unprecedented \u2018must win\u2019 wireless race for the US to cross the 5G finish line before China as alluded to during the recent Senate Commerce Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/hearings?ID=AE64FD09-95B1-407D-8A87-8CBEE10665A4\"><span class=\"s2\">oversight hearing<\/span><\/a> on the Federal Commerce Commission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The details were thin with no real discussion on the <\/span><span class=\"s3\">need for 5G or its complexities<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> including the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>national security implications of China beating out the USA! USA! or any mention of its dangerous, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalresearch.ca\/coming-soon-to-your-neighborhood-5g-wireless\/5646667\"><span class=\"s2\">toxic health<\/span><\/a> consequences or the true implications on the <a href=\"https:\/\/cairnsnews.org\/2017\/03\/26\/scary-5g-and-iot-total-technological-control-grid-being-rolled-out-fast\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Massive Internet<\/span><\/a> of Things (<a href=\"https:\/\/steemit.com\/freedom\/@newsandviews\/the-internet-of-things-iot-will-be-the-world-s-largest-spy-and-control-network-integrated-with-5g-rfid-and-ai-it-could-be-the\"><span class=\"s2\">MIOT<\/span><\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2015\/jul\/15\/internet-of-things-mass-surveillance\"><span class=\"s2\">decoded<\/span><\/a> as the Dastardly Dark Utopian Vision of Future Illusion which promises a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trunews.com\/article\/futurist-ray-kurzweil-ai-human-merger-only-12-yrs-away\"><span class=\"s2\">generation<\/span><\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2015\/06\/03\/technology\/ray-kurzweil-predictions\/index.html\"><span class=\"s2\">trans-humans<\/span><\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>One already occurring aspect of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2015\/jul\/15\/internet-of-things-mass-surveillance\"><span class=\"s2\">MIOT<\/span><\/a> is when the overlap between government and the unelected tech giants becomes indistinguishable, representative democracy becomes passe.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefings-statements\/president-donald-j-trump-taking-action-ensure-america-wins-race-5g\/\"><span class=\"s2\">remarks<\/span><\/a> at the White House in April (with Ivanka present to make her own comments), President Donald Trump said \u201c<i>Winning the race to be the world\u2019s leading provider of 5G cellular and communication networks; <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>we want to be the leader<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> in this. We <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>cannot allow<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> any other country to <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>out-compete<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> the United States in this powerful industry of the future. <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>We just can\u2019t let that happen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is a race America must win.\u201d<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At stake, is at least a decade of global technological, economic and military dominance that would create three million new jobs, $500 billion in GDP and $275 billion in private sector investment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>With over 300 million consumers, the US became the world\u2019s tech and innovation hub as a result of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctia.org\/news\/how-americas-4g-leadership-propelled-the-u-s-economy\"><span class=\"s2\">4G global<\/span><\/a> leadership.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Adding $100 billion to the GDP with wireless jobs that grew at 84% and a $950 billion app economy, the US became the world\u2019s strongest wireless economy and world leader in mobile broadband.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a result of its leadership, today\u2019s largest tech stocks continue to drive the US economy with a technical expertise that spawned the US-based mega tech companies (Google\/Amazon\/MS\/FB\/Twitter\/MS).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Many of those American-made companies have taken thousands of skilled jobs and lucrative contracts outside the US which is, after all, what the globalist agenda is all about.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As 5G looms in an increasingly competitive global market, US dominance to sustain its competitive advantage is being put to the test. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">National Security Council on 5G\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sometime in late 2017, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/trump-team-debates-nationalizing-5g-network-f1e92a49-60f2-4e3e-acd4-f3eb03d910ff.html\"><span class=\"s2\">National Security Council<\/span><\/a> briefed the Trump Administration on its recommendations for a comprehensive \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2018\/01\/some-trump-officials-want-to-build-government-run-mobile-broadband-network\/\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>Eisenhower National Highway System for the Information <\/i>Age<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s4\">,\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s1\">That system would include one centralized block network to be \u2018<i>built and run\u2019<\/i> as a \u2018<i>nationalized<\/i>\u2019 government project with completion in three years in order to prevail against China. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The document concluded with \u201c<i>The best network from a technical, performance and security perspective will be single block, <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>USG secured<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>, and have the highest probability for project success.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/skepticism-greets-proposal-to-nationalize-5g-wireless-network-3bcbb4b3-132f-4556-8db7-fa9a7d6086e2.html\"><span class=\"s2\">denied<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefings-statements\/remarks-president-trump-united-states-5g-deployment\/\"><span class=\"s2\">nationalization<\/span><\/a> as an option, pointing out that the NSC is one of many federal agencies which will weigh in on 5G.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>At his April press briefing, Trump put the idea to rest with \u201c<i>And, as you probably heard, we had another alternative of doing it; that would be through government investment\u2026. we don\u2019t want to do that because it won\u2019t be nearly as good, nearly as fast.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">China<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Nevertheless, the document provides the NSC\u2019s national security perspective on 5G and insights on other decisions yet to be made.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Citing \u201c<i>cyber emergency we face on a daily basis\u201d<\/i> with a focus on \u2018<i>nefarious actors\u2019<\/i> of \u2018<i>malicious intent,\u2019<\/i> the NSC consistently warned that: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\">*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<i>China has achieved a dominant position in the manufacture and operation of network <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>infrastructure<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\">*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>Fact:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>China is currently<\/i> <i>poised to lead the global deployment of 5G.<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201d<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\">*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<i>Huawei more than doubled its market share in an 18 month period and in several areas or <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>routing, it has caught or surpassed market leader Cisco.\u201d<\/i> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\">*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<i>Notably the FBI continues to monitor market activity and risks associated with Huawei and <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>ZTE.<\/i>\u2026<i>permanently tasking the FBI to work with other intelligence agencies to monitor <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>and regularly report to Congress and the Administration on the market activities and risks <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>of Chinese infrastructure vendors would be valuable for national security<\/i>.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\">Part of the NSC document included excerpts from a September 15, 2018 memo from former Department of Defense Secretary James Mattis with the following: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cChina has assembled the basic components required for winning the AI arms race.\u201d <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>*<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cChina has already catapulted into the lead for facial recognition to support its authoritarian <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>regime.\u201d <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/duckduckgo.com\/?q=Congressional+Research+Service&amp;t=ffab&amp;atb=v158-1&amp;ia=news\"><span class=\"s2\">CRS<\/span><\/a> further identified China as<i> \u201cthe dominant malicious actor in the Information Domain\u201d <\/i>in its June 12th \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.usni.org\/2019\/06\/14\/report-on-national-security-implications-of-5g-networks\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>National Security Implications<\/i><\/span><\/a><i>,\u201d<\/i> pointing out that China is \u201c\u2026<i>likely to deploy the world\u2019s first 5G wide-area network\u201d<\/i> and that \u201c<i>Huawei has signed contracts for 5G infrastructure in over thirty countries including US allies<\/i>.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since China\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/news.usni.org\/2019\/06\/14\/report-on-national-security-implications-of-5g-networks\"><span class=\"s2\">National Intelligence Law<\/span><\/a> requires that \u201c<i>any organization and citizen shall support, provide assistance, and cooperate in national intelligence work, and guard the secrecy of any national intelligence work that they are aware of<\/i>\u201d and as the Chinese government \u201c<i>extended a $100 billion line of credit to Huawei to finance deals abroad<\/i>,\u201d some analysts believe the implications of a government &#8211; corporate collaboration is the installation of backdoors and increased surveillance \u2013 as if the US is squeaky clean on its collaborations with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/How-many-US-government-contracts-does-Google-have\"><span class=\"s2\">Google<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/ibm-protests-600m-amazon-cloud-contract-with-cia-report\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Amazon<\/span><\/a> or organizing a cyber weapon attack like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csoonline.com\/article\/3218104\/what-is-stuxnet-who-created-it-and-how-does-it-work.html\"><span class=\"s2\">Stuxnet<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">Standardized Cell Siting<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The NSC asked the question \u201c<i>Can we standardize siting requirements? USG or Industry<\/i>\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">in recognition that each municipality across the country has different requirements and fees for siting small wireless facilities as required by 5G. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The NSC went on to suggest \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>use national security<\/i><\/span><i> <\/i><span class=\"s3\"><i>to force nationwide standardization<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> of siting requirements\u201d <\/i>and that the<i> \u201cbottom line is that a <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>three year deployment<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> time is <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>not achievable without a nationwide standard<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> for siting<\/i>.\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since the telecom companies are entirely too cozy with the FCC, a national security declaration is unnecessary to achieve a de facto nationwide standard for siting approvals.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In September, 2018, the FCC obtained a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/document\/fcc-streamlines-deployment-next-generation-wireless-infrastructure\"><span class=\"s2\">Declaratory Judgment<\/span><\/a> to Remove Regulatory Barriers for Deployment of Wireless Infrastructure for 5G Connectivity which will provide a \u2018fast track\u2019 to circumvent local delays to cell deployment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>In response, cities across the US are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiercewireless.com\/wireless\/major-u-s-cities-revolt-against-fcc-s-proposed-small-cell-deployment-rules\"><span class=\"s2\">opposing<\/span><\/a> the FCC\u2019s attempt to override local control decision-making regarding the installation of 5G wireless infrastructure. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">In the words of FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<i>The FCC is working to <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>get government out of the way<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> so the private sector can start building hundreds of thousands of cells needed for 5G.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>excluded small cell from costly review procedures<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> designed for 100 ft assigned towers.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That decision <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>cost $1.5 billion<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> in red tape.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>FCC took another step in <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>streamlining the local permitting process<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That decision <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>cut another $2 billion in red tape<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> and will stimulate $2.4 billion in small cell deployments, <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>97% of which will be in rural and suburban communities<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/bills\/115\/s3157\"><span class=\"s2\">Streamline Small Cell Deployment Act<\/span><\/a> S.1699 was introduced on June 3 to \u2018streamline\u2019 the siting process for small cell deployment in rural and suburban areas.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It has been referred to the Senate Commerce Committee for a hearing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">US Telecom Manufacturing<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Thanks to the 1995 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epi.org\/blog\/naftas-impact-workers\/\"><span class=\"s2\">NAFTA<\/span><\/a> vote which began the redistribution of millions of skilled American jobs overseas and the extraordinary growth of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learn4good.com\/jobs\/language\/english\/list\/telecommunications\/saudi_arabia\/\"><span class=\"s2\">American telecoms<\/span><\/a> relocating jobs abroad, the NSC confirmed that <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>Fact:<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><i>US telecommunication manufacturers have<\/i><\/span><i> <\/i><span class=\"s3\"><i>all but disappeared<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201d and that \u201c<i>Today <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>only a handful of companies are postured to play a role in global 5G deployment<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201d <\/i>followed by<i> <\/i>the facile assurance that<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<i>Equipment manufacturers have <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>expressed a willingness<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i> to move manufacturing facilities to the US in support of 5G<\/i>.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addressing the issue of protecting national security from a tainted foreign supply chain, Mattis suggested <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<i>Added assurance can be gained by ensuring that <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>we create an IT and telecommunications manufacturing base<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>. By securing the supply chain, we can be assured that our network is built with <\/i><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>safe components<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The unavoidable question is that since a \u2018safe and secure\u2019 supply chain is of national security importance and that Chinese manufactured components could not be trusted and that American manufacturers would be the most reliable purveyor of the necessary 5G components,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>how exactly will the US rely on \u2018safe and secure\u2019 components in the absence of its own manufacturing base?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">Executive Order<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On May 15th, President Trump signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/executive-order-securing-information-communications-technology-services-supply-chain\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Executive Order<\/span><\/a> declaring a \u2018national emergency\u2019 that<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<i>foreign adversaries are increasingly exploiting vulnerabilities in information and communications technology and services, in order to commit malicious cyber-enabled actions, including economic and industrial espionage.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Order bans American telecom firms and US allies from selling US-made components to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/05\/15\/business\/huawei-ban-trump.html\"><span class=\"s2\">foreign telecom<\/span><\/a>s while creating a banned \u201cEntity List\u2019 which will require a USG license for foreign telecoms in order to do business with US tech companies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Order, which has broad bi-partisan support, did not address <\/span><span class=\"s3\">existing security risks of foreign made components currently embedded<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> in US equipment while many rural carriers already rely on Chinese made equipment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>According to the Order, the US would stop sharing intel with allies who persist in using Chinese equipment, fearing intercepted messages or sabotage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Within days of signing the EO, Intel, Qualcomm and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.co.za\/google-intel-qualcomm-reportedly-cut-off-critical-software-to-huawei-2019-5\"><span class=\"s2\">US tech<\/span><\/a> companies announced that they would cut off critical software and components to Huawei while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-huawei-tech-alphabet-exclusive-idUSKCN1SP0NB\"><span class=\"s2\">Google<\/span><\/a>, which has AI research centers built inside China\u2019s information sphere, has suspended its ties to Huawei and dropped its technical support for Android.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As the US telecom industry comply with the Order that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.usni.org\/2019\/06\/14\/report-on-national-security-implications-of-5g-networks\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>any Chinese equipment<\/i><\/span><\/a><i> in the network could pose potential security concerns,<\/i>\u201d some US tech allies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justandroid.net\/2019\/05\/26\/us-blacklisting-of-huawei-prompts-global-firms-to-follow-suit\/\"><span class=\"s2\">suspended<\/span><\/a> their dealings with Huawei while some American chipmakers found ways <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/25\/technology\/huawei-trump-ban-technology.html\"><span class=\"s2\">around the ban<\/span><\/a> by dropping the US-made label. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition, the Senate Commerce Committee introduced the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/2019\/5\/senate-leaders-announce-bipartisan-5g-leadership-act\"><span class=\"s2\">US 5G Leadership Act<\/span><\/a>\u201d which will fund $700,000 for removal of all Huawei or ZTE equipment or services from the US <\/span><span class=\"s3\">existing network<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> in order to secure the 5G href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2019-06-29\/ceasefire-us-china-trade-talks-back-track-after-trump-concedes-huawei\"><span class=\"s2\">tentative trade deal<\/span><\/a> with President Xi Jinping (with Ivanka at the conference table) unexpectedly reversing his position that US firms be allowed to sell to Huawei where there are <\/span><span class=\"s3\">no national security issues<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> but leaving final resolution with Huawei to the end of negotiations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In response, the Department of Commerce, which maintains the Entity List, has suggested it plans to continue Huawei\u2019s \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/money\/companies\/us-government-staff-told-to-treat-huawei-as-blacklisted\/ar-AADLXQF?li=BBnbfcL\"><span class=\"s2\">presumption of denial\u2019<\/span><\/a> as it applies to a request for a business license.
