Trump Rampages Over NYT Story On Mexico Tariffs: \u2018They Are Truly The Enemy of the People!\u2019<\/h1>\n

President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/strong>\u00a0opened up a whole thread of rage on Twitter Sunday in response to the devastating\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0report, published Saturday, that Mexico\u2019s concessions were not a result of pressure from tariffs but rather months of preparation. The random caps rant accused the\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0of being fake news and disputed the premise of the story, if not any of the actual facts.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0reported that the deal<\/a>\u00a0which Trump announced on Friday \u201cconsists largely of actions that Mexico had already promised to take in prior discussions with the United States over the past several months,\u201d and that it was not in the main reached because Mexico was responding to the tariff threat.<\/p>\n

Trump was enraged on Twitter on Sunday and unleashed a threaded tirade. He began by pointing out that the Times was correct that such border actions had been something the U.S. was trying to get from Mexico for a long time. He said that for many years \u201cMexico was not being cooperative on the Border,\u201d but that now he has \u201cfull confidence\u201d that they will \u201cbe very cooperative\u201d going forward.<\/p>\n

He said that one thing not mentioned in \u201cyesterday press release,\u201d presumably referring to Friday\u2019s announcement, didn\u2019t include one item \u201cin particular\u201d that was agreed upon but not announced yet.<\/p>\n

He then said that the New York Times will do anything to see the country \u201cfail\u201d and added the Enemy of the People line as his closer.<\/p>\n

It was not a specific dispute of any point, except to confirm that items agreed to had been on the table for months, as the report indicated.<\/p>\n
