{"id":121631,"date":"2019-04-27T19:02:09","date_gmt":"2019-04-27T23:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=121631"},"modified":"2019-04-27T19:02:16","modified_gmt":"2019-04-27T23:02:16","slug":"obama-administration-even-used-the-ukraine-to-hurt-trump-help-clinton-and-protect-biden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=121631","title":{"rendered":"Obama Administration Even Used the Ukraine to Hurt Trump, Help Clinton and Protect Biden"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Ukraine Tapped By Obama Admin To Hurt Trump, Help Clinton And Protect Bidens<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>In January, 2016, the Obama White House summoned Ukrainian authorities to Washington to discuss <b>several ongoing matters <\/b>under the guise of coordinating &#8220;anti-corruption efforts,&#8221; reports <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/white-house\/440730-how-the-obama-white-house-engaged-ukraine-to-give-russia-collusion\"><em>The Hill<\/em><\/a>&#8216;s John Solomon.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The January 2016 gathering, confirmed by multiple participants and contemporaneous memos, brought some of Ukraine\u2019s top corruption prosecutors and investigators face to face with <strong>members of former President Obama\u2019s National Security Council (NSC), FBI, State Department and Department of Justice (DOJ).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The agenda suggested the purpose was training and coordination. But Ukrainian participants said it didn\u2019t take long \u2014 during the meetings and afterward \u2014 to realize <strong>the Americans\u2019 objectives included two politically hot investigations: one that touched <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/white-house\/436816-joe-bidens-2020-ukrainian-nightmare-a-closed-probe-is-revived\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vice President Joe Biden\u2019s family<\/a> and one that involved a lobbying firm linked closely to then-candidate Trump<\/strong>. &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/white-house\/440730-how-the-obama-white-house-engaged-ukraine-to-give-russia-collusion\"><em>The Hill<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <strong>Obama officials<\/strong> &#8211; likely knowing that lobbyist Paul Manafort was about to join President Trump&#8217;s campaign soon (he joined that March), <strong>were interested in reviving a closed investigation into payments to US figures from Ukraine&#8217;s pro-Russia Party of Regions<\/strong> &#8211; which both Paul Manafort and Tony Podesta did unregistered work for, according to former Ukrainian Embassy political officer Andrii Telizhenko.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/manafort%20suit%201_0.jpg?itok=9sBtQlKj\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/manafort%20suit%201_0.jpg?itok=9sBtQlKj\" data-link-option=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/manafort%20suit%201_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"58beb416-8d88-4be3-b4e4-7f28d5522433\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 2014 investigation focused heavily on Manafort<\/strong>, whose firm was tied to Trump through his longtime partner and Trump adviser, Roger Stone.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Agents interviewed Manafort in 2014 about <strong>whether he received undeclared payments from the party of ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych<\/strong>, an ally of Russia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/vladimir-putin\" data-nid=\"440511\">Vladimir Putin<\/a>, and whether he engaged in improper foreign lobbying.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI shut down the case without charging Manafort<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Telizhenko and other attendees <\/strong>of the January, 2016 meeting recall DOJ employees asking Ukrainian investigators from their National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) if they could <strong>locate new evidence about the Party of Regions&#8217; payment<\/strong><strong>s to Americans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was definitely the case that led to the charges against Manafort and the leak to U.S. media during the 2016 election,&#8221; said Telizhenko &#8211; which makes the January 2016 gathering in DC one of the earliest documented efforts to compile a case against Trump and those in his orbit.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nazar Kholodnytskyy, <strong>Ukraine\u2019s chief anti-corruption prosecutor<\/strong>, told me he attended some but not all of the January 2016 Washington meetings and couldn\u2019t remember the specific cases, if any, that were discussed.<\/p>\n<p>But he said <strong>he soon saw evidence in Ukraine of <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/hilltv\/rising\/434892-senior-ukrainian-justice-official-says-hes-opened-probe-into-us-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">political meddling in the U.S. election<\/a>. <\/strong>Kholodnytskyy said the key evidence against Manafort <strong>\u2014 a ledger showing payments from the Party of Regions<\/strong> \u2014 was known to Ukrainian authorities since 2014 <strong>but was suddenly released in May 2016 by the U.S.-friendly NABU<\/strong>, after Manafort was named Trump\u2019s campaign chairman.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Somebody kept this black ledger secret for two years and then showed it to the public and the U.S. media. It was extremely suspicious,&#8221; said Kholodnytskyy &#8211; who specifically instructed NABU not to share the &#8220;black ledger&#8221; with the media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I ordered the detectives to give nothing to the mass media considering this case. Instead, they had broken my order and published themselves these one or two pages of this black ledger regarding Paul Manafort,&#8221; he added. &#8220;For me it was the first call that something was going wrong and that there is some external influence in this case. And there is some other interests in this case not in the interest of the investigation and a fair trial.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Manafort joined Trump&#8217;s campaign on March 29, 2016 and became campaign manager on May 19, 2016. The ledger&#8217;s existence leaked on May 29, 2016, while Manafort would be fired from the Trump campaign that August.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>NABU leaked the existence of the ledgers on May 29, 2016. Later that summer, it told U.S. media the ledgers showed payments to Manafort, a revelation that forced him to resign from the campaign in August 2016.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/ukraine-politics\/publication-of-manafort-payments-violated-law-interfered-in-us-election-kyiv-court-rules.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/ukraine-politics\/publication-of-manafort-payments-violated-law-interfered-in-us-election-kyiv-court-rules.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1556316086716000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHVKIv2wdjBonwIg1dFI4XyEJm5YA\">A Ukrainian court in December concluded<\/a> NABU\u2019s release of the ledger was an illegal attempt to influence the U.S. election. And<strong> a member of Ukraine\u2019s parliament has released a recording of a NABU official saying the agency released the ledger <u>to help Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton\u2019s campaign.<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If the media continues to ignore the possible Ukrainian-DNC conspiracy in 2016 to find and create damaging information about Trump, Manafort and the Trump campaign, it will amount to corruption. Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RudyGiuliani\/status\/1122136565969506304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 27, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ignoring others, protecting Bidens<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kostiantyn Kulyk &#8211; deputy head of the Ukraine prosecutor general\u2019s international affairs office, said that <strong>Ukraine also had evidence of other Western figures receiving money from Yanukovych&#8217;s party<\/strong> &#8211; such as former Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig &#8211; but the Americans weren&#8217;t interested.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They just discussed Manafort. This was all and only what they wanted. The Ukrainians did not agree. But then <strong>Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/03\/30\/world\/europe\/political-stability-in-the-balance-as-ukraine-ousts-top-prosecutor.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fire Ukraine\u2019s chief prosecutor<\/a> in March 2016<\/strong>, as I previously reported. The Burisma case was transferred to NABU, then shut down.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukrainian Embassy in Washington on Thursday confirmed the Obama administration requested the meetings in January 2016, but embassy representatives attended only some of the sessions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last Wednesday on <em>Fox and Friends,<\/em> Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said &#8220;<strong>I ask you to keep your eye on Ukraine<\/strong>,&#8221; referring to collusion to <strong>help Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-width-video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe id=\"fitvid769904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FDtg8z12Q7s?start=182\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>What&#8217;s more, <strong>DOJ documents support Telizhenko&#8217;s claim that the DOJ reopened its Manafort case as the 2016 election ramped up &#8211; <\/strong>including communications between Associate Attorney General Bruce Ohr, his wife, Nellie, and ex-British spy Christopher Steele, as Solomon writes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nellie Ohr and Steele worked in 2016 for the research firm, Fusion GPS, that was hired by Clinton\u2019s campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to find Russia dirt on Trump. Steele wrote the famous dossier for Fusion that the FBI used to gain a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.
