‘No concerns’: Illinois governor faces tax investigation over toilet removal<\/h1>\n

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. \u2014 Illinois Democratic\u00a0Gov. J.B. Pritzker<\/a>\u00a0says he has \u201cno concerns at all\u201d about a media report that federal authorities are investigating a property tax break he got by taking toilets out of a Chicago mansion he owns.<\/p>\n

The billionaire told reporters Wednesday he\u2019s \u201cvery confident\u201d that any review would show \u201call the rules were followed\u201d in the tax appeal on the home.<\/p>\n

WBEZ radio in Chicago cited anonymous sources in reporting Wednesday that\u00a0Pritzker<\/a>, his wife and his brother-in-law are under investigation. The U.S. attorney\u2019s office would not confirm or deny an investigation.<\/p>\n

Pritzker<\/a>\u00a0reimbursed Cook County $330,000 in October after a county inspector declared that he and his relatives engaged in a \u201cscheme to defraud\u201d taxpayers. Toilets were removed so the home could be declared \u201cuninhabitable,\u201d lowering its property value.<\/p>\n
