<\/a><\/p>\nNow we all know why \u201cEmpire\u201d actor Jussie Smollett allegedly staged a hoax hate crime attack on himself and then complained to police about it.<\/p>\n
Even though prosecutors have dropped charges, local police and others have\u00a0stated they believe Smollett there is enough evidence to convict him.<\/p>\n
A grand jury was confident enough to\u00a0charge him with 16 counts.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, local prosecutors, after being lobbied by an official connected to the Obamas, dropped charges without a real explanation.<\/p>\n
But now we know.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me be clear about something,\u201d said Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, who has suggested Smollett pay for the expenses of the police investigation into his claim.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only reason Jussie Smollett thought he could take advantage of a hoax about a hate crime is because of the environment, the toxic environment that Donald Trump created,\u201d Emanuel said, according to a\u00a0Daily Wire report from Joseph Curl.<\/a><\/p>\n Emanuel was the Obama\u00a0chief of staff who once\u00a0declared that a political operative should never let a crisis go to waste.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a president who drew a moral equivalency between people who are trying to perpetuate bigotry and those who are trying to fight bigotry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n While the president was confirming that the FBI and Department of Justice both will investigate the decision by Chicago prosecutors to drop charges, Emanuel was telling Trump\u00a0to remove himself from the issue.<\/p>\n \u201cMy recommendation is the president go to Opening Day baseball, sit on the sidelines and stay out of this,\u201d he said, the Wire reported.<\/p>\n Smollett claimed he was attacked by two white men who yelled \u201cMAGA country.\u201d President Trump\u2019s campaign slogan was \u201cMake America Great Again.<\/p>\n Cook County state\u2019s attorney Kim Foxx announced the dropping of charges in exchange for community services as well as forfeiture of $10,000 in bond money, although Smollett\u2019s attorneys denied there was any \u201cdeal.\u201d<\/p>\n Emanuel also wants Smollett to pay Chicago the $130,000 police spent investigating what is considered by most to be a fake report.<\/p>\n \u201cThe police are right now finalizing the cost that was used, police resources to come to the understanding this was a hoax and not a real hate crime,\u201d said Emanuel. \u201cWhat we spent. The corporation counsel, once they have the finalized and feel good about the numbers, will then send a letter to Jussie Smollett and his attorneys, trying to recoup those costs for the city.\u201d<\/p>\n Foxx\u00a0claimed she recused herself from the case<\/a>\u00a0when it was revealed she had been lobbied by a former aide to Michelle Obama who was a friend of the Smollett family. However, it later was revealed\u00a0she did not recuse herself.<\/p>\n
