Rahm Emanuel continues criticism, calls Smollett decision an \u2018abomination\u2019<\/h1>\n

Chicago Mayor\u00a0Rahm Emanuel<\/a>\u00a0called the prosecutors\u2019 decision to drop charges against \u201cEmpire\u201d actor\u00a0Jussie Smollet<\/a>\u00a0an \u201cabomination\u201d on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Emanuel spoke to CNN hours after prosecutors dropped charges on Smollett after he allegedly lied about a hate assault in the Windy City.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes no sense,\u201d Emanuel told CNN host Wolf Blitzer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes no legal sense. It makes no common sense. And this is an abomination of my sense of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smollett, who is black and gay, claimed in January that he was jumped by two men who yelled racist and homophobic slurs, as well as \u201cThis is MAGA country!\u201d at him during the attack.<\/p>\n

The \u201cEmpire\u201d star, 36, claimed his assailants doused him with bleach, threw a noose around his neck and beat him.<\/p>\n

During their investigation, Chicago police determined\u00a0Smollett set up the attack<\/a>\u00a0and paid two brothers \u2014 who both acted in small roles on \u201cEmpire\u201d \u2014 to carry out the supposed beating.<\/p>\n

Before his appearance on Blitzer\u2019s show, Emanuel spoke at a press conference with Chicago police officials and condemned the decision to let Smollet off.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs there no decency in this man?\u201d Emanuel seethed at the press conference. \u201cMr. Smollett is still saying that he is innocent. \u2026 How dare he?\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago\u2019s top cop, Superintendent Eddie Johnson,\u00a0was similarly irate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I think justice was served? No,\u201d he said at the press conference.<\/p>\n
