Kellyanne Conway takes Trump’s side in fracas with husband George<\/h1>\n

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway defended President Trump after her boss\u00a0labeled her husband George Conway a \u201ctotal loser\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for suggesting he has mental health issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe left it alone for months out of respect for me,\u201d Kellyanne\u00a0told Politico<\/a>\u00a0Wednesday. \u201cBut you think he shouldn\u2019t respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? You think he should just take that sitting down?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon’t play psychiatrist any more than George should be,\u201d she said. \u201cYou’re not a psychiatrist and he’s not, respectfully.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although George Conway frequently criticizes Trump, Kellyanne Conway said the dispute between her husband and boss hasn\u2019t impacted her job.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy would it affect my job? Hasn\u2019t everybody tried to push me out already and here I am, stronger than ever,\u201d she said. \u201cYou’re looking at it the wrong way.\u201d<\/p>\n

George Conway revived his feud with Trump,\u00a0suggesting the president may have a narcissistic personality disorder<\/a>\u00a0and antisocial personality disorder when he tweeted out excerpts from the\u00a0American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders<\/i>. Similarly, he said he thinks Trump’s mental state is deteriorating.<\/p>\n

Those swipes came after Trump spent much of the weekend tweeting, floating the idea of a\u00a0federal investigation into “Saturday Night Live”<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0attacking the late Sen. John McCain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Washington Post, George Conway, a conservative lawyer, said he goes after Trump on Twitter so he doesn\u2019t \u201cend up screaming\u201d at his wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so maddening to watch,\u201d Conway said. \u201cThe mendacity, the incompetence, it\u2019s just maddening to watch. The tweeting is just the way to get it out of the way, so I can get it off my chest and move on with my life that day. That\u2019s basically it. Frankly, it\u2019s so I don\u2019t end up screaming at her about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump, who first responded to George Conway’s tweets by calling him a \u201ctotal loser,” punched back again on Wednesday,\u00a0arguing George is jealous of his wife’s success in his administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife\u2019s success & angry that I, with her help, didn\u2019t give him the job he so desperately wanted,\u201d Trump tweeted. \u201cI barely know him but just take a look, a stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!\u201d<\/p>\n

While Trump and his associates have suggested George Conway was either fired, quit, or rejected from a job at the Justice Department, he claims that he turned down a position at the agency heading the civil division because of Trump\u2019s attacks on agency leaders and the firing of FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.<\/p>\n

Kellyanne Conway said Trump has always treated her with respect and that she\u2019s only talked with Trump about the criticism against her husband \u201cin passing.\u201d She declined to comment to Politico on whether she hopes Trump discontinues his attacks on social media against her husband.<\/p>\n
