Twitter, however, has provided her no reason for its action.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Assange is a prolific user of Twitter in her campaign to free her son who has been a refugee in the Ecuador embassy in London since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter has posted the following message on her page:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-34293\" src=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27-700x396.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27-700x396.png 700w, https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27-400x226.png 400w, https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27-768x435.png 768w, https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/screenshot-twitter.com-2019.03.19-21-24-27-160x91.png 160w\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"396\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While a user can access her page by agreeing to view her profile, Ms. Assange told\u00a0<strong>Consortium News<\/strong>she is unable to post new Tweets to her account nor see anyone else\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Her last post, at 11:55 am on Tuesday in Australia, where she lives, is a retweet of an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newmatilda.com\/2019\/03\/15\/the-psychology-of-getting-julian-assange-part-4-why-even-some-lefties-want-to-see-him-hang\/\">article<\/a>\u00a0published about her son. She posted 12 tweets in the past 24 hours. \u201cInteresting that it followed on from a day of my tweets about free speech and calling on journalists globally to stand up for Julian,\u201d Ms. Assange said in a text message.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clinton and Bolton<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the past ten days, Ms. Assange tweeted direct replies to Hillary Clinton and John Bolton, the U.S. national security adviser. Bolton had tweeted on March 9: \u201c<span data-originalfontsize=\"27px\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"27\">US military should use\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"m_6920632162624505343gmail-twitter-hashtag m_6920632162624505343gmail-pretty-link m_6920632162624505343gmail-js-nav\" dir=\"ltr\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Wikileaks?src=hash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Wikileaks?src%3Dhash&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1553135425083000&amp;usg=AFQjCNESfZd14I1CsNCuEGiTvlbkYpCd0w\" data-originalfontsize=\"27px\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"27\">#Wikileaks<\/a><span data-originalfontsize=\"27px\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"27\">\u00a0for cyber warfare target practice. We must continue to fight the perpetuation and normalization of Islamophobia and racism in all its forms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Assange directly replied to Clinton: \u201cHang on Hillary! My son, published your pre Presidential run bragsheet \u2018Tick Tock\u2019 (email) on\u00a0<a class=\"twitter-hashtag pretty-link js-nav\" dir=\"ltr\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Libya?src=hash\" data-query-source=\"hashtag_click\"><s>#<\/s><b>Libya<\/b><\/a>!\u00a0As a result of your trophy War in Libya, you were responsible for 40,000 deaths, ISIS expansion, womens slave market in Libya, &amp; the subsequent refugee crisis in Europe!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton was \u201cin nauseating false sympathy,\u201d Ms. Assange said in a text message.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under Congressional Pressure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twitter uses algorithms unknown to the public to remove, block, suspend or restrict accounts of its users. Like other social media companies, Twitter has come under intense U.S. congressional\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/7\/17\/17581444\/facebook-hearing-judiciary-committee-twitter-google\">pressure<\/a>\u00a0to censor accounts deemed hostile to U.S. interests.<\/p>\n<p>Julian Assange has remained in the embassy to avoid arrest by British authorities for skipping bail from an investigation by Sweden that has since been dropped. He has not been charged with a crime by either Sweden or Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Assange was granted political asylum by the previous government of Ecuador seven years ago. The current government, however, has made it known it wants him to leave and has made various moves to force him out. \u00a0His contact with the outside world has been restricted. \u00a0Twitter deleted his account on March 28, 2018. British authorities have not permitted him to leave the embassy for urgent medical treatment without being arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Assange fears that if he is arrested by London police once he leaves the embassy that he will be extradited to the United States where a secret grand jury is preparing an indictment against him, most likely under the Espionage Act.
