Former FBI legal counsel Lisa Page testified to Congress that the Justice Department ordered the FBI not to charge former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with \u201cgross negligence\u201d by mishandling classified information.<\/h2>\n

Transcripts of Page\u2019s\u00a0closed-door\u00a0<\/a>testimony<\/a>\u00a0in July 2018 were released Tuesday by Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) on Tuesday, which included the following exchange with Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX):<\/p>\n

RATCLIFFE: So let me if I can, I know I\u2019m testing your memory. But when you say advice you got from the Department, you\u2019re making it sound like it was the Department that told you: You\u2019re not going to charge gross negligence because we\u2019re the prosecutors and we\u2019re telling you we\u2019re not going to \u2026<\/p>\n

PAGE: That is correct.<\/p>\n

Page\u00a0confirmed<\/a>\u00a0that the Department of Justice led by Attorney General Loretta Lynch had \u201cmultiple conversations\u201d about charging Clinton with gross negligence but noted that it would be a rare decision.<\/p>\n

\u201c[T]hey did not feel they could sustain a charge,\u201d she said, referring to the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump reacted to the reports on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
